We didn't. Howard Bryant did.

That is why I posted the warning - we won't allow it to derail.

The discussion is inherently political. "Derailing" wouldn't be the right word for a subject that would take a natural course.

Are we finally just admitting this thread as a whole is pointless? That it's all about self-important media types farting away on whatever platform someone has given to them and their fans and/or haters saying "YAY!" or "NAY!"? Because if all we're talking about are the parties involved sniping one another for the drama and not the subject which is against the rules of the forum, that seems pretty pointless.

Howard bryant represents a sports entity. Some discussion on stuff like this should be allowed. I understand putting warnings out there etc but do we really need to be this sensitive?

It's not about being sensitive, it's about how two pages will be wiped out by tomorrow morning and a gigantic mod post telling us all we were warned and how disappointed someone is and bans will be next and the politics board is that way like all these discussions end.

I feel like CM Punk during one WWE contract signing where he opens with "What are we doing here? C'mon, why don't we just flip the table now and start fighting like every one of these end?". Just stating, not hating. We went through this once last week and once last month and twice before in the last year and and and.

My main gripe being this thread can have some valuable sports and business related to media content regarding the market and it always ends up breaking down to talking about some quasi-political show that airs on a sports station in this market and eventually these threads will just be shut down altogether. And that would be too bad.

Precisely my point. The wiping out of pages is what i'm talking about in terms of being sensitive. I don't care that much, just think some level of discussion should be allowed.

But this is not political - it is cultural which is a slippery slope of its own.

Howard Bryant has an agenda and here is an important point - ESPN allowed it in the magazine which has a stronger vetting process than the website. None of us were there when the incident with his wife happened. It was dealt with in the courts and he has no record but he has been convicted by many in the court of popular opinion.

The next move is up to ESPN. Will they publish the article on the main website?
I can't comment on the article until I read it. (I've seen quotes but that is all)

All we can so is see what if anything happens tomorrow and go from there.

Thats what the politics board is for.

The line is drawn at 'all political talk' is to be done there None on the hockey board. Until/unless that changs it will be that way.

Its also in the rules that each and every one of you agreed to.

So if anyone wants to delve further into it feel free to go to that board and have at it.

"Hey guys! We didn't lose much because no one watches us anyway! Profit!!!!" - Fox Sports

I think many of us would cut the cord tomorrow if we could have a secure way of getting access to NESN and CSN for local sports ( The Patriots do not figure in this )

I would love to tell Comcast to stick it and go to another option but living in Cambridge how would I then get internet???? RCN and Fios are not options in the city and for stand alone internet Comcast is expensive.

The landscape in changing - next year the NFL will be televising games on TWITTER :help:

Some people may consider this nit-picking, but things like this p$ss me off.

On Mike Lynch's two minute sportscast last night, his 20 seconds on the Stanley Cup Final focused on Jumbo Joe and Phil the Thrill. Only problem is that instead of showing Phil Kessel's video when announcing his name, they showed Patrick fricking Hornqvist!

I know it's probably some knucklehead that was putting the video together and it wasn't Lynchie's fault. But I truly wonder if Lynchie even realized it or cared.

I have DirectTV and get the Center Ice package. I also get all regional sports channels because I'm the weirdo who likes watching random Missouri Valley conference basketball games and indoor lacrosse. I don't like watching stuff on a tablet and no, just having Netflix or Hulu isn't enough for me. I'm someone who still enjoys flipping on the tv and watching a random movie on TCM or reruns of Seinfeld.

I'm a nit-picker, and that's even a little too nitty for me. Granted, I don't know the entire context, but was it clearly focusing on a whole bunch of Kessel clips, with a random Hornqvist in there? Then, yeah, that's stupid. But if it was a Sharks vs Pens motif with the Joe/Phil thing thrown in, then meh. Maybe Skippy the Intern cued the tape a few seconds too late or too early.

I'd be more upset because I'm guessing the baseball:basketball:hockey ratio was probably like 60:25:15. Yes, the Sox are the only local team playing, and they'll dominate. But the NBA is on your station, so show some corporate synergy. And hockey is playing the Stanley Cup! For nitwit baseball broadcasters, that's like the World Series, but not boring.

if watching random MVC games is weird then call me Lady Gaga ;)

As somebody who has been stuck with Comcast and Time Warner in the past I can say that Comcast might actually be better. With Comcast at least I generally get the channels I pay for...not a firm guarantee with TW from my experience. I guess it is like being the tallest keebler elf.

Direct Tv is probably the way to go nowadays

DirectTV is expensive but I guess they all are. But other than losing the signal during heavy snow or rain, we've never had an outage. The funny thing about DirectTV is they will add channels to their lineup and not say a thing one day you suddenly have a new station. Of course it's usually something bizarre like Rural Farm Channel or whatever.

I live in a high rise so DirecTV is out - but still you need an internet connection

This.

All this talk about cord cutting doesn't mention that the cost of a internet and a couple streaming services is going to be close to 100 bucks in many places. If you like sports might as well get cable tv.

People who are living with roommates somewhere with options for internet service can get online cheap but everyone else has a sizable bill one way or another.

Im not a fan of cable companies but the next step of everything being ala carte won't be much better IMO. I don't really think Netflix is worth the 10 bucks but it is better than whatever is on non sports cable channels the product outside of sports isn't very good and only appeals to older folks.

My cable would be a waste without 3 HD boxes for the living room to watch a few games at once tho so my bill is way too high regardless.

Its less than 3 months that I could live without cable (end of NBA/NHL finals to Labor Day weekend) and this year with the Sox being so good I couldn't go without it at all.
