Chris Berman is Retiring From ESPN After the 2016 Football Season

Chris Berman, the longtime ESPN sportscaster who has been with the company since 1979, is leaving the network after next football season, multiple sources tell The Big Lead. Berman is in the final year of his contract, which ends sometime after the 2016-2017 football season. He is expected to retire, rather than leave for another network.

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz declined comment this week.

Wow, John Dennis is getting shredded this morning on the radio while he's out today. Sounds like he's a real malcontent behind the scenes. Callahan says their not even friends anymore.

It's all good for talk radio. Take it with a grain of salt.

They're just joking when they're ripping people at their station (aside from when Salk was there). They're only serious when talking about people at 98.5 or the Globe/Herald. :sarcasm:

Even if you hate him or both of them, check out the Minihane podcast with Pete Sheppard. I have to say that these podcasts have been great. The Merloni and Sheppard ones I really enjoyed because you get a lot of dirt on who likes who and what goes on behind the scenes in the business.

Hearing Erik Erlendsson who was the Lightning beat writer for the Tampa Tribune is a finalist for the Globe position.

Eric lost his job on May 3rd while in Brooklyn as his paper ceased to exist without warning. The Tampa Tribune was not even allowed to print a goodbye edition which just was cruel to the staff and readers.

The hockey writer is mentioned at the end of this news report. This closing was one of the cruelest I have ever heard about.

Eddie Olczyk is the new Phil Simms. Others correcting him and he can't complete a sentence.

He provides nothing.

So apparently he does horse racing now too? At first I thought it was just a bit when they'd ask him who was going to win the Derby or whatever but now he was actually there last week with Tom Hammond....

I saw him at the Triple Crown races last year.

Eddie Olczyk is heavily invested in horse racing. He replaced Bob Neumeier last year on the Kentucky Derby when Neumie was recovering from his stroke and they kept him on the coverage.

Yeah I wasn't listening to the radio so I'm not sure if he was or not, but he is all over Bryant on Twitter.

Bringing up Bryant's past transgressions involving domestic violence too.

I'm getting my popcorn ready. I'm eager to see if Bryant has the guts to try and defend himself. I would imagine not.

FOX News tried to make it a story yesterday but it went nowhere.
