I bomb atomically...
Also, I wouldn’t count Nils out. Is Hughes a top pairing defenseman? Great offensively, terrible defensivelyThere is zero chance Nils Lundqvist turns into a top pairing dman. It’s Schneider or we move on.

Names these options. Impending UFA’s?

Would love Miller on the Leafs but not sure how it would work cap-wise.
Maybe something like:
Petr Mrazek
Nick Ritchie
2022 1st rounder
2023 1st rounder
Nick Robertson
Topi Niemela
for
JT Miller
Jaroslav Halak
The way I see it: Mrazek + Ritchie + ‘23 1st = Halak (salary dumps)
‘22 1st + Robertson + Niemela = JT Miller
Hughes had some real struggles last season. He has been way better this season and even has good fancy defensive stats this season. You obviously don't watch him if this is your take. Also, I wouldn’t count Nils out. Is Hughes a top pairing defenseman? Great offensively, terrible defensively
You potentially have firesales in Dallas and Chicago. You also have potential sellers in Arizona, Philadelphia, and San Jose. That's so far.
In the case of Giroux and Hertl (possibly), these players have a lot of power over where they go. So, this significantly impacts the cost of acquisition downwardly.
Another reason why these trade threads are funny. People clearly don’t watch other teams and make stupid statements like this. Also, I wouldn’t count Nils out. Is Hughes a top pairing defenseman? Great offensively, terrible defensively
Show your work. He was terrible defensively last season. This season he's worked on it and now he's above average defensively. Also, I wouldn’t count Nils out. Is Hughes a top pairing defenseman? Great offensively, terrible defensively

And like I said earlier in this thread, none of those teams are going to be trading a player of Miller’s value who is also signed for next season at a very reasonable rate. Surely you can imagine that would be very valuable to many teams that may be interested.
His value is negatively affected by your ask, no?
Not at all. Your fellow Avs’ poster who I respect a lot, said it was a good trade.
Barron, Olausson and ‘23 2nd for Miller.
No. That's very doubtful.
No. That's very doubtful.
Nucks hold all the cards here.
The price for Miller will be massive. If no contender is willing to pay it? Fine. We'll keep our best forward and move him for a 1st and prospect at next years deadline.
We don't HAVE to move him now. It's all about which team wants to go all in for a Cup this year, and it's going to cost you
Curious as to why it is doubtful? Are you saying that the Avs don't want JTM, so no package would be worth sending or that particular package wouldn't happen?
If you do want JTM, what sort of package are you thinking other than stuff nobody wants?
I have lost track of these JTM threads, so maybe you've covered it. Apologies if you have.
What players on those teams would Colorado be acquiring that are equal in ability to Miller and are signed for a very reasonable amount through next season?
If the price to get Miller is Olausson + Barron + 2nd... Or we can go get Giroux from Philly for Jost and a conditional 1st, we will happily take Giroux every time.
Just because Giroux is a UFA doesn't mean we automatically will lose him this summer. He could be very interested in chasing cups with Colorado for the last few years of his career.
