I concur that it really looks that way.
Perhaps the person meant comparatively?

Or they have more autonomy on player transactions under the cap, but lack autonomy when it comes to things like firing a coach/paying 3 coaches or player buyouts.

For the record, I think most of the meddling in the previous regime was the result of having such a weak GM. If the owner says 'How about that OEL?' it's the GM's responsibility to push back and say 'no f***ing way, and here's why' rather than 'Uh OK we'll get on that'.

Which is tragic enough on its own.
Because it would mean quite plausibly that Aquillini wasn't just charting the direction of the team under Benning, but picking specific players with his casual idiocy "Go get that Eriksson guy!".

This Boudreau situation, where management has publicly disparaged his work and is seeking a replacement but seemingly prevented from implementing it by the owners, is a new low for the organization imo.

Why would any coach who could garner offers from other teams besides the Canucks want to enter this slime pit?

How many head coaches need to be on the payroll before Aquilini realizes its not coaching that's the issue?

That would be the point where he'd have his "No, it's the children who are wrong." moment.

Which is tragic enough on its own.

Well, that's certainly what it looked like to me. Looking back on it.

Do fans in this market understand how much of a black eye this franchise is earning around the league? Almost every report on the sports channels starts covering the Canucks by describing it as 'the mess in Vancouver'.

When the Aquilini's bought this franchise, the purchase ended up court with allegations by the Tom Gaglardi group that they'd been double-crossed. So I suppose we should have seen this ownership cesspool coming.

But it's still a red-faced embarrassment when every new low is reached. And make no mistake about it; the Boudreau situation is a 'new low' for even this dysfunctional group.

I dunno man, I talk to fans regularly in the position I'm in..... I haven't met anyone in the last year or so that likes the direction this team has taken or the way it's being run. Not a single person thinking "Yeah, ownership and management have been good though...."

I think the actual fans of this team fully understand what a crap show this is.

Fans need to actually step up and STOP supporting this team in any way financially. Maybe going back to the days of there only being 9k people in the building will wake people up.

If *YOU* are buying a ticket, merchandise or food at the games..... YOU are part of the problem.

YOU meaning anyone reading this message.

I am so f***ing sick and tired of what this once respected franchise has become! Classless and clueless and only surviving due to the passion of the fans. Every day there is another embarrassing and worrying detail exposed. Incompetence and arrogance through and through!

As much as I would love to have him I hope Bedard doesn’t come to the Canucks, they are the only franchise in history that could f*** his career up!

And there was another one where he could "tell" which players in training camp were going to make the team, or something like that. Someone else please repost that tweet

Also, someone needs to clone or archive his Twitter before he decides to delete all his old tweets. Injuries! :sarcasm:

I completely despise this man. He is the biggest roadblock to this team having success and if he died tomorrow I'd piss on his grave. Turned this franchise into a complete laughing stock.

People need to stop going to games or buying merchandise. Not worth your time or effort as long as we have a shit for brains owner.

Is this tweet for real? A guy gets accosted by security for displaying a sign supporting Boudreau?

If true, this should go viral on social media.....and the Aquilini's should offer the fan free merchandise and a ticket to another game.

This tragi-comedy in Vancouver is approaching farcical status. Can you imagine this happening in any other sports arena or stadium anywhere in N.A.?

You'd think Rogers Arena was China and Francesco was head of the CCP. That's how egregious that was.

If that's true the guy with the sign should have made a huge stink about it refused to take the sign down, refuse to leave, have the police called and had it splashed all over the front page of the news. That gives me ideas for tomorrow night.

Ok let’s calm down. He wasn’t “accosted” …they asked him to take it down but he wasn’t “accosted”…no need to be that theatric
