Official Francesco Aquilini Thread

I don’t know. Aquilini got roasted pretty soundly for only tweeting when things were going well. He shows a little personality here by going at some of the media types who have sharpened their hatchets on him.

I don’t have a whole lot of respect for Aquilini, nor do I love the look of an owner wading into conflict like this. But he’s not wrong in this instance.
He is wrong though? He himself said the team would have taken its time to find a proper GM and POHO. 2 Days later however we already have a new PoHo.

HNIC confirming that this really was a tweet from Aquilini, complaining about the media coverage in Vancouver. So churlish and below the standard of an NHL owner.....but not too shocking I guess.

At least they hired a guy in Rutherford who won't take any crap from this narcistic owner. Looks to me like there might have been some sort of power struggle within the Aquilini family on how the franchise was being run, and Francesco is airing his grievances about being hard done by, by the media.

Aquilini keeps on f***ing local sports journalists.

Ices a team that is objectively uncoverable without some type of gaslighting for 7 years.

Nukes a radio station.

Continues to put the screws to the media after righting the ship.

This is not going to end well.

The only prerequisite to being an NHL owner is to have money or for Daddy to have money. Especially in the case of the latter category there really aren't any "standards" to speak of when it comes to the maturity of owners.

The issue is, in his situation or position you can be right and still be wrong.

FA needs to STFU. The best owners are the ones that you forget even exist.

Pro sports leagues should really have a training camp for new team owners that they have to learn how to act, before the sale goes through.

Great sports owners show up to games, do community and charity events, raise profile of team, and just let the hired guns worry about how to run a team.

Either that, or be Jerry Jones and own up to the meddling.

Oh boo hoo Aquaman, if Luigi and the brothers are pulling the strings then good for them.

Aquaman should just be a spectator on the sidelines and watch this team play and win.

Yikes, a billionaire posting shit like this is funny and sad af at the same time.

Not saying he’s not allowed to talk shit but in a social media platform… it’s just giving people chances to talk shit back, plus giving the Canucks a bad look.

I’m here for the drama and off-ice entertainment. Then again it’s why I also love the NBA lol

I just don’t think any reporter is going to go hard at him in Monday’s presser, these guys got scared when Green would give them a snarky answer.

Maybe Rutherford was on top of their list, and they had not reached a deal with him?

Maybe they were under the impression that Rurtherford wasnt willing to sign and they thought an extended search was needed?

Im giving them a sort of an alibi.

And look, old man JR was not the guy I wanted... But I think he ticks 2 very important boxes:

He is legitimately succesfull manager of an NHL team. Cups with two different (very different) teams.

And he is one of the candidates that SHOULD have the authority to tell FA to stay away.

I hope every media member give him the cold shoulder and only ask JR questions.

You ignore an attention seeking egomanic, just to see him blow him.

Maybe someone who is retiring soon can ask JR how he feels coming into a relationship with an owner who meddles.

If Aqua is attention seeking why do we hear from him in pressers like once a decade?

This is one of those things where I actually agree with what he’s saying in a way, but man was it stupid to actually say it.

Like @Lucbourdon said a couple pages earlier: why start drama when things are finally positive around here?

But overall, it’s not a big deal and everyone should probably just relax.
