One thing this thread is good for is figuring out who has no idea what they are tAlking about (and I'm not talking about Kev).

wow :shakehead that optimistic feeling i had about all the potential they had IN THIS DRAFT squandered! :shakehead but hey, they didn't pick nurse. good day for the carolina hurricanes. woo hoo!! i hope it works out for them a couple years from now.

Yup, we have the No. 5 pick and the best thing we can say about our draft is that we didn't take Darnell Nurse.

Hurricanes hockey!!

Just reinforces the fact that goalies have very little value compared to equivalent counterparts in other positions.

So we added a physical, high IQ, playmaker who doesn't take shifts off, has a big work ethic, and plays every inch of the ice. I can see why people are pissed. Our system needs more guys like Lindholm. If a top pairing dman wasn't available for the 5th pick then why trade it. Adding more expensive forwards doesn't help this team get closer to competing. Regardless our organization should be adding high IQ, high motor guys which is why I would have passed on Nichuskin 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

I'd have traded Jamie McBain and Danny Biega for the #1 pick.

We can say this crap all we want. Yzerman seemed locked onto Drouin and we won't know what they were asking for.

Gotta have guts and be bold to get the guys you want. The fact that our GM doesn't have the guts to take a risk doesn't mean his hands were tied. It means he wasn't willing to do what it took to get the guy he wanted. I'm not sure how that's admirable.

I like Lindholm but wonder what the return was for dropping a few spots. Does anyone have him ranked that much higher than Monahan or Nich? Nich goes 10th, what could we have received for dropping 5 spots. Anyway, I guess we won't know how well everyone did for a few years.

So Dallas...

Zadorov would be hilarious for the inevitable Zadorov - Oleksiak pairing. But if I had to guess, I'd go Shinkaruk #1, Domi #2. I would not be surprised to see Nichushkin dropping even farther.

I'm hurt as excited about this 2nd pick as I am the first. Marking people off the list, really hope we can snag one of Morin, Petan, Bowey, Fucale, Santini, or Heartherington.

Do go on. 3rd overall for what? Remember, it'll have to be enough for Tampa to drop off that "cliff".

And you can't overpay, because then I'll ***** about it.

Thinking about this right now, what would we have to add to Lindholm to get Jones? But an hour ago, it wouldn't have been as much. We missed our opportunity. It's that simple. We had a chance to get Seth Jones and make our awful season less painful. We blew it.

How the hell can you make that call right now? What if Tampa was asking for Skinner and the 5th, would you have taken it? You have NO idea what Yzerman was asking for, then if JR took "too big" a risk you'd be yelling at him for giving up too much for the 3rd overall pick.

If you ask me, Nathan Mackinnon was the best player in the draft. I think it would've been great to trade up to #1. Do I think JR's an idiot for not doing that either? No. There are 28 other GMs in the league that didn't "take that risk" to pick Jones. Unless we get some sort of evidence that says all we needed to add was Jamie McBain and a 5th, there's no way to make that call.

Do you want to...maybe...wait and see how this works out before you continue complaining about this every few seconds?

For all we know, Jones could turn into a total bust and Lindholm could turn into the next Forsberg or Backstrom.
