What does that have to do with OUR pick? Usually the quality of players goes down the longer the draft goes. In my experience, anyway.

Going from MacKinnon/Barkov/Drouin/Jones to Lindholm isn't a "drop", it's a "cliff".

I'd have overpaid if necessary to move to No. 3. I know Tampa Bay wanted Drouin, but for the right price, they could have been convinced to take Lindholm. If we had jumped to No. 3 to take Jones, then obviously Nashville takes Drouin, right? Or maybe they like Lindholm.

Wow. What a move by Lamorello. Wish he was our GM. Our GM doesn't have the guts to make this any better. No guts, no glory.

I guess Vancouver gave up on ever being able to trade Luongo. He was too expensive to buyout so they trade the better goaltender. These long term deals are dealing coming back to bite some teams on the butt.

Other than the fact that highly respected, top scouting agencies like THN and McKeens actually had Lindholm rates HIGHER than Barkov, sure.

So wait...you claim the difference between the Top 4 and Lindholm was a "cliff", but in the same breath, claim Tampa could have been "convinced" to take him. Or that Nashville would have taken him over Drouin.

Talk about speaking out of both sides of your mouth.

If there's this "cliff", then everyone knew it, and JR couldn't have gotten into the Top 4. If there's no cliff, JR could have made a trade, but the difference would have been negligible.

Can't have it both ways.
