Dude, it was till a best seller in Q2 and entering Q3. There are many reasons for this.

One that was highlighted is the two contracts went away in the U.S. and people were able to upgrade on a more regular basis.

Samsung's issues definitely had an impact. I didn't think the 7 was a huge update after the 6S, I was actually surprised at the success. Stating the 7 failed or didn't sell because of the headphone jack is simply not true. Were there some people that waited because... sure, there always will be. Thing is it's not going to change and your only option is to go with it, change brands until it happens there.

The fact there was an adapter included, it boggles my mind that it even gets brought up as a negative.

Someone should tell Google that their Pixel 2 is gonna fail without its headphone jack!

My local Verizon ordered the phones last night so I put in my pre-order for a 64gb 8 yesterday.

I've been due for an upgrade for a while now (I've had the 6 since release) and was holding out for the X, but it just didn't do it for me. It seemed like the biggest selling point for it was the facial recognition but I don't password protect my phone so it's a pretty useless feature for me.

The largest selling point of the X over the 8 to me is the screen/phone size. I love the Plus size screen, but the overall phone is too big. The X takes the best of bigger screen and smaller phone.

Other than that, I'm not totally sure what other advantage it has.

I should clarify that to me it seems Apple is pushing the facial recognition as the selling point. I was ready to go with the X because of the screen but everything else seemed meh enough to wait a year to see what it'll have to offer then.

If the battery in my 6 wasn't shot I'd honestly consider loading up iOS 11 on it and calling it a day

I don't think there are any. I can't remember if it was EverythingApplePro or MKBHD that said the actual X, while smaller than the plus, still isn't much easier to hold in comparison to say the S8+ one handed.

I'd tolerate the size of the 8+ due to the slightly better battery than the X, same chip and processor, same amount of RAM, camera and TouchID.

Pre-orders are super smooth for the 8 and 8+. All configurations still available apparently.

October 27th pre-orders for the X are going to be an absolute online store madhouse.

Two years on these phones... the batteries just don't hold up. Replacing them just doesn't seem worth it compared to upgrading.

I want the X because of the larger screen but not a larger phone. The facial stuff.... as long as it work wells. Interested in the OLED screen as well.

I'm actually on my 2nd battery already  I replaced it last June for $80 and it actually **** the bed quicker than the first one.

To be honest, the 8+ price tag is not too far off from the X. If I'm willing to spend $950 on the 8+, I'll go all the way and get the $1,150 X.

I wonder how the battery will be in the X compared to the plus phones? I am still using the 6 plus and am ready to upgrade . I guess I will wait to see the X reviews in November.
Will there be the X plus next year ??

Definitely trying to hold onto my iPhone 6s until 2019 iPhone lineup is released (yeah, a while away). I figure I may as well get as much mileage out of it as possible before turning it into a casting machine for my Apple TV and any shows I eventually load to it rather than selling it, and it's better than paying for an early upgrade from my carrier.

As for iPhone X news... Apple isn't expected to catch up to demand before the first half of 2018. Crazy. They're poised to ship 40-million units which won't be enough to meet demand. 2018 shipment estimates are between 80-million to 90-million.

Hmmmm it will be interesting. I know a ton of people are just ordering the 8, at least in my circle. I'm going to have to get on at mid-night or whenever preorders go live. You have this gap between the announcement and the release for the X. Every month I keep the 7 I'm wasting money.

Looks like my 2 will go for about $300.00 which is what it's going for on Ebay. I have not created an account there to check fees. I have a couple bands to include with it that I don't want.

I ordered the 3, 4-5 weeks out for shipping right now.

I sold my iPhone on Swappa. It was a $5 flat fee.

You're missing the point. I don't know if there has been a year where the iPhone isn't a best seller. The smartphone market has expanded exponentially in recent years, even in developed markets like the United States. If the iPhone 7 wasn't a best seller, it wouldn't be a "disappointment", it would be an outright failure and heads would roll.

There's no indication Apple ever increased production after dropping it in January. I didn't use the world failure, I didn't say it didn't sell. I said it was a disappointment in that it didn't meat expectations. In this context, the 7 was still very profitable for Apple, and iPhone remains their most profitable product. However, Apple presented the iPhone 7 as a substantial step forward in the market and it really wasn't viewed as such. Yes, people got used to the lack of the headphone jack once they bought it but don't deny that it was controversial. It make a lot of people upset, and there was probably a sizeable percentage of users who tend to upgrade every year that did not. Critically, the iPhone 7 is also the worst received iPhone so far. Apple had to cut production once they realized demand growth was not going to be as high as they expected. No reason to believe they didn't cut production either, the sources who said this are quite reliable.

Apple is a very secretive company, so we'll never know what they actually thought. But we do know there's fairly reliable reports suggesting Apple was concerned that iPhone sales growth was slowing (not declining, but slowing), and that they cut iPhone production for the first time ever. Those are pretty good indicators that the 7 didn't meet their expectations. To me, the cutting of production is the only reason I need to conclude that. You never cut production if your product met expectations.

I'm not missing the point. There is absolutely no data to support what you're saying. You started this with iPhone 7 sales sucked because of the headphone jack. You keep making points but not posting any links or data to verify it. When all sales numbers point to this opposite, production numbers..... why did they need to increase production?/

Stating the phone "just didn't sell" is again not true. I really thought it wouldn't do well for several reasons, not a significant change from the 6S but for a variety of reasons already mentioned it did.

Other than 4K tv I see no other reason to upgrade To the latest version of Apple TV. They still have a fraction of the apps available than for the iPhone.

I really don't see the use for additional apps on Apple TV. I have everything I need on it already and can cast whatever I want from my iPhone to the Apple TV in HD if needed. It's great. The need for Siri or games? I just don't need it.

The one Apple TV I have is 2nd gen I believe. I hardly use it and hate the controller. My 4k t.v. has all the aps I need so unless they have good deals on rental movies or purchases I can't justify it.
