I like the spirit of the Ross pick. No one picked in these last rounds will move the needle so might as well select a few personal favourites.

It doesn't move the needle for you? Is Biz Mackey going to play every single game? Because Ross will be an automatic out.

My backup catcher has 4x the career WAR that Ross does.

OK. Say Ross gets 100-150 ABs. He may get 10 less hits over the course of the season than a more traditional backup catcher in this league. So no, that really doesn't move the needle. If I had two teams ranked almost identical, it could be a consideration, but that's doubtful.

Pick who you want for the #5/6 bullpen guy, I don't think it's going to move the needle either way since it is pretty subjective by that point and a limited role. Just pointing out there were other off the board bullpen picks besides mine that didn't get commented on lol

And I guess you completely forgot you missed two picks last round? We passed you a while ago in the draft (picks are four hours now).
I did not get notified i was up

He has a career OBP of .316 and struck out 2.5 more times than he walked. It's a wasted roster spot because he's never going to be used as a pinch hitter, just as an option when the starting C is resting. And in a league where pitchers hit, that's two pretty easy outs in a row.

Not that I don't kind of agree with you, but...

I agree you need your backup catcher to start around 40 or so games, but they're never going to PH anyway unless you have three catchers or at least a third that can play emergency.

I needed a backup catcher, so I took a guy who had a 15 year career almost strictly as a backup catcher. Clearly he didn't stay in the league that long because of his hitting yes, but he's elite defensively and had great character, intangibles, etc.

I also might be a Cubs fan.

I was going to slam the pick, David Ross, based on the fact that you never trust a guy with two first names.

Till I realized I have three such players, :sarcasm:

I hope the reason the Jays took Cedeno was for his turn in Bad News Bears: Breaking Training
His prime was uncanny... no denying that.

In a 17-year career, Cedeño was a .285 hitter with 199 home runs and 976 RBI in 2006 games. His 550 stolen bases rank him 25th on the all-time list, and the 487 steals he accumulated with the Astros ranks him first on the franchise's all-time leader list ahead of superstar Craig Biggio.

The small issues surrounding a player don't completeyl negate career stats.

I was just joking. He was a fine player. Great movie.

Been swamped with work and it's really freaking difficult to do this on a smart phone. Genuinely sorry for the delay/picks gents. I'll make it up when it comes to voting, I promise.

You say no one picked here will move the needle, but I would think a Dave Winfield might.

It was between him and Dawson for RF. Went with the Hawk for versatility. But Dave kept dropping and dropping.
