People look like they agree, but am I right that Cutter has not been visually impressive? Like he has the talent and skill, but he was a 5OV pick, he should be one of the top handful of players in the tournament. He doesn't look like someone I need to sign when his college season ends.
Cutter has skill, size, speed, good shot. Plays the point on PP. Needs another college year. No rush.

Gauthier looks unbearably slow

He's really not. He's a fairly good skater even. This was also a bad game. Playing with pace is a mental thing; ditto reading the play ahead of time and putting himself into positions to skate. Gauthier is a player who I'd probably say reads the play as it happens. So, you get floating and reactionary decisions that make him look slower. I'm not saying that's good.

If Foerster could skate like Gauthier he'd probably be a top line NHLer. They're a very curious contrast. Foerster is a below average skater who thinks the game incredibly quick and is way better as a passer, while having the shot.

Nice. Please do more write-ups! How about one for Leo Carlsson?
Leo Carlsson- One of the most complete 2 way players In this draft class, I actually have him ranked at #3, he has arguably the highest iq out of all of the prospects in this draft, a good fluid skater, with good acceleration and agility (not elite but very good) He shows a willingness to compete for every puck and always seems to be in the right place at the right time, he can play all 3 forward positions but will be best as a center imo, he has a very active stick that he uses to constantly break up passes and disrupt offensive players, he has good hands and good vision. Could play in the nhl as early as next season, but more likely to be a year away as teams will won't him to work on his offense, if he were to start right away he'd start off in a couts type of role when he started in philly.

Negatives- tends to be to passive at times in the offensive zone, Definitely looks to pass more than he's willing to shoot, needs to work on his face offs because he does struggle at times, but is definitely a center at the next level, one thing that I do see as a big negative that will likely sort itself out as he continues his training, is when he's back skating, it's an awkward stride which tends to slow him down (but he makes up for that with an active stick and excellent position)

Comparable- I see a lot of Couts in him but likely a better passer

Like he should come back next year and be the best player in the tournament. If he signs, I'm envisioning a Shane Wright situation, except at least he would be able to go to the Phantoms.

Why sign him now? Let him develop into a C a college if that’s the plan. He will be at least a 1/2 LW over time.

Because teams always need to justify top 5-10 picks by rushing them into the pro ranks, and we live in a world where these guys want to be 1 and done. Turcotte, Mittelstadt, Wahlstrom, Farabee, Zegras, etc. Gauthier said he envisions himself as a 1 and done. The Flyers just see size. Lappy will probably still be AHL coach. It's a developmental match made in heaven.

The stat line looks good for Gauthier but I don’t really think that’s indicative of his actual performance this tournament. I think usage/ice time was more at play propping him up. Plus his two goals come the other day in a game against a completely overmatched Germany team. Today with all the talent on the ice he looked in over his head.

But this is a 19 year old tournament typically. So not the end world. I hope/think he should be back next year in this tournament.

And next year it’s in Sweden so those filthy Canadian rats can’t cheat and steal it again.

They're going to want to give fans coming to the games a cookie.

So thinking of random Swedish name Zetterberg?

They're going to want to give fans coming to the games a cookie.
Or replace one Kevdog with another Hayes type?

He had quite a few good scoring chances last night. He didn’t look bad or overmatched, Milic had the game of his life.
