Is there any chance, even small, that either Minten or Cowan makes it?

One in a million

Leafs will have to clean up defensive coverage and special teams but last night was a good look at the type of team and style Tree is trying to bring. High skill with a good amount of speed and physicality to go along with it. Leafs have been too slow and soft the last couple of years and while Dubas did somewhat address that at last years TDL the Leafs were still too slow and their grit wasn’t mean. Now we’ve got a few junkyard dogs on the roster and we don’t look anywhere near as slow up front like we have in recent years.

Now it’s on our coach to get them playing like a well-oiled machine. Keefe said they played sloppily last night and he was 100% right. Hopefully they can fine tune themselves before the season opener so we don’t have a repeat of last year.

I have no knowledge at all about Sova, but seems odd to keep a kid in camp for so long and then not sign him doesn't it?

Yep it's weird. He showed some good stuff too. I would not be surprised if he's drafted as an overager next draft.

Cowan has been sent back I assume. Guessing Lajoie will be waived today.

Interesting to see McMann playing with the fourth line guys. I know he's waiver eligible now, so I'd imagine we see him tomorrow.

Perhaps the kid didn't want to sign?
Perhaps, but that would be an odd decision on his part if so when you've already been passed over in the draft once. What's the best case scenario, goes back to junior, plays well, gets drafted and then signs the same ELC a year later?

Yeah I don't know, just throwing something out there.

One of the best ways to get contract efficiency is to have young players step up and make positive contributions.

I’m not against it at all…

Minten has been really good... but not THAT good, ya know? Not sure it warrants waiving someone or whatever.

I've been wrong before, but this is likely just a test or whatever for next game, then he'll get sent down. He really hasn't dominated the WHL and the WJCs could be a good development step for him.

I’m only saying if the team believes he can succeed. Not doing it for the sake of doing it.

No they said Cowan would not join the team at their team bonding thing (he's under age) but would stay in Toronto for the remainder of camp.

It's 99% sure he gets sent down after though.
