Gotta like the confidence. He may well be right. No one looks good on Anaheim D
Yeah the guy had some interesting numbers. Over 19:00 TOI and was the main left side pk D. Lots of hits too but I don't know where the space is for him even though they need the sort of game he plays.Gotta like the confidence. He may well be right. No one looks good on Anaheim D
When you're in the Leafs spot you gotta take some chances on what you hope are some hidden gems. Bad teams (especially defensemen) are where you find these types. McCabe was a decent find by Dubas - I'm interested to see how well he does this year.Yeah the guy had some interesting numbers. Over 19:00 TOI and was the main left side pk D. Barring a trade or Gio retiring there isn't a lot of minutes for him so I think he starts the season in the minors. With a 1 way deal I think they still have him for a call up once they have a left side injury or Gio starts getting more rest tho. I expect Timmins has the #7 spot which is as it should be. If he gets some games in the show it will be a MUCH safer environment than he is used to.
I think he and Lagesson give them much better depth in the 7-8-9 holes. I like their D except for the Klinger add which has upside for sure, but seems like something they didn't need a lot.

Absolutely don’t want to see Benoit and Timmins sitting for Giordano to play.He can’t be any worse than Giordano… right?
I'd personally have Gio-Benoit-Timmins (in no particular order) as the 5/6/7 and dump Klingberg. It would be nice for once for us to be able to keep the 3 goalies we want to run with, but we can never manage to get them through Waivers.
I think he’s a goner the second he’s put on waivers. No way that he goes unclaimed…

I respect the hell out of Giordano but he looks done. He’s 40 years old. We cannot let 25 year old physical defenders like Benoit rot, and essentially a rookie RHD like Timmins go undeveloped. It’s incredibly short sighted and not in the teams best interest.
Honestly, I don’t know what Klingberg or even Brodie is going to bring, and they are both essentially gone after this season.
Benoit and Timmins are long term pieces we need to keep and develop. Treliving has some hard decisions to make here, and I hope he makes the right ones.
We are going to need all 8 come playoff time when players get injured. Atleast we won't need to trade assets for dmen at the trade deadline. It would be nice for once for us to be able to keep the 3 goalies we want to run with, but we can never manage to get them through Waivers.

If it appears there’s a legit chance to make, and even win, the Eastern final they’ll add a D at some point during the season. We are going to need all 8 come playoff time when players get injured. Atleast we won't need to trade assets for dmen at the trade deadline.
Reilly Brodie
McCabe Liljegren
Benoit Klingberg
Giordano Timmins
What’s up with Cowan? Is he getting one more game?
That’s awesome. Great experience for him. He’s likely soaking it all in. He’s an enthusiast and hard working kidI think he'll be around until the end of camp ish, so I'd say he'll probably play a few more times.
I've seen in an article he'll play at least 1 of 3 this next few days against Montreal and I hope the whole game.Lineup getting posted soon? Wonder if Samsonov starts.

Yeah he lost 10 lbs .. and has been skating hard since mid August .. but his stride is his stride and really hasn't changed since he was a kidTavares appears to have lost 10-15 lbs, I see it on his face. Hopefully he is a step quicker this year.
i would have rather signed Gustafson for the offensive input, and probably same level of lack of defence for much less than Klingberg, but I guess the hope is that he returns to a legitimate top 4 like he was on the Stars run to the cup.I didn't like or understand the Klingberg (or Reaves) signing when it happened. After watching a bit of Klingberg this pre-season I can see how he might be able to help, but that number just hamstrings us too much.
This team needs one of Klingberg or Brodie to start the year on IR...unless someone more than expensive gets hurt. We need to keep Timmins, Benoit and Jones and that is how we do it. As the season goes on we will have other injuries and find ways to make it work. It also has happen out of the gate.
Knies Matthews Bertuzzi
Robertson Tavares Marner
Domi Nylander Jarnkrok
Gregor Kampf Lafferty
Reaves
Rielly Brodie
McCabe Liljegren
Benoit Timmins

We might see Slaff on the second line and Robertson scratched. Gio may take Benoit's place.
Virtually invisible. How has Benoit looked so far? Good enough to be on bottom pairing?
Is that a good thing or a bad thing for a defensive dman?Virtually invisible.
