Your Worst Nightmare
It makes sense to get a good long look at Cowan, he's a recent high pick. Many of the other top prospects are pro ready or not available. Cowan and Minten are the only junior aged players of note at camp. Hopefully they're both among the last cuts, it would be a good sign.

Chadwick was returned to Junior. After this game the majority of the 2nd squad will be sent down or cut.

Honestly, I think we could really trim it down to observe only the following:

Forwards (19)
Auston Matthews
Mitch Marner
John Tavares
William Nylander
Tyler Bertuzzi
Max Domi
Calle Jarnkrok
David Kampf
Matthew Knies
Sam Lafferty
Ryan Reaves
Noah Gregor (PTO)
Nick Robertson
Easton Cowan
Pontus Holmberg
Fraser Minten
Nick Abruzzese
Bobby McMann
Alex Steeves

Defence (10)
Morgan Rielly
TJ Brodie
Timothy Liljegren
Jake Mccabe
John Klingberg
Mark Giordano
Conor Timmins
Simon Benoit
William Lagesson
Topi Niemela

That may not be good news for him. Gregor has looked decent and there are some Marlies knocking on the door
Won't surprise me if he's not part of the starting day lineup
Gregor's uncle Jason was a TSN sports jock in Edmonton until TSN1260 went away in 2023. A huge Leaf basher for years. I need Noah to make the club :)

Jarnkrok is a good player that more than earns his salary, trading him because they overpaid Kampf and Reaves is a bad outcome
Not really, the other guys fill different roles.

Jarnkrok 30-50 points replaced by cheaper guys and having 4 full l lines throughout the season

Agreed. One of the best bang for your buck contributor on the forwards (except ELCs). You do have to worry about regression with Jarnkrok though.

This team decided to give over 3M to Kampf and Reaves... it's really on them if they lose out on an asset on waivers.

Heard Voit is injured

As a Sting fan , would be cool to see Voit and Dillingham maybe make the Marlies.

People really underestimate how hard it is for a player to get 20 goals in this league with a sub 3M cap hit. 50 points isn't easy either and finding one for less than 2.1M cap hit is even harder.
My point is, currently the Leafs have to run 11F 7D to not lose anyone on waivers. With ~300 in cap space.

Trading Jarnkrok at 2.1 give us a 3 for 1 deal roster-wise (2 regulars + a reserve). 6k in cap space after that.

Or just waive Timmins and Reaves.

Or just waive Timmins and Reaves.
Timmins is an RD who just turned 25 and is finally healthy after battling injuries for years. And the Leafs have 2 of their RD with one year left on their contrscts and who are on the wrong side of 30.

Terribly shortsighted move, let alone taking into consideration the utter lack of asset management.

There isn't going to be asset management at this stage. It's about getting cap compliant. How else are they going to get cap compliant? You're not getting value out of trades either.

Timmins is not a top 6 starter if everyone is healthy. I like him but something has to give.

They could get a pick for Jarnkrok, and that would allow them to go with a 21 man roster.

I didn't watch much of tonights game but Gregor had 7 shots?

I flip on the youtube highlights and first thing they show is Gregor blowing past some defenseman and getting a decent shot on net.

Had never watched this guy play before and had very little expectations but he's been very good so far and has game changing speed.
