Scott Wheeler published an article on The Athletic listing his 2023 Draft “superlatives” (best skaters, best shots, best passers, etc.)

Somehow he does not list Cristall and Dvorsky as even honorable mentions for best shot, which really makes me wonder what he’s looking at.

You think he’s more skilled than both of them?
More skilled? Like puck skills, passing, and deception? Yeah I think.

I think those two are better prospects, but that's mostly because they are much better skaters (like best in the draft) and fewer defensive concerns as a result. Gulyayev is my guy and I think he has it in there, but I've seen far too many low percentage point shots to rate him clearly above.

I think he has the edge in puck skills but Gulyayev and Simashev’s flashes are just as good in the other areas. Then you have the huge gap in skating that separates them. Dragicevic shows the passing and deception more consistently though so I can see why you’d feel that way.

The track record of defensemen who lead their team in scoring/PPG at any point, much less as a draft eligible, is quite good...unless you are Tony DeAngelo playing for the Flyers.

Would love to know why they went away from Friday night, Saturday morning/afternoon.
Thursday Night is a better primetime slot. Wednesday makes no sense. No one outside of us really cares about Day 2 of the draft.

Personally I liked the whole thing on Saturday afternoon like they used to do. Takes away from the trade chatter I guess though.
