Bodnarchuck might be the best player in Manchester, you could argue that.

He has passed through twice, and is a Defender(hardest position to play).

Certainly better than Andy.

If Bods was 6'1 215 lbs, I'm sure he'd already be a king, or at the very least have been claimed. I love Bods, but his size is always going to count against him unfortunately.

He is about the same size as A-Mart.

A-Mart is listed bigger, but is not over 6'0" he is thick though.

Bods is about just as tall, but just a hair slimmer. Bods is not small.

Amart is 6'1 and Bods is closer to 5'10. Bods plays bigger than Amart, and is actually a pretty good fighter, but that doesn't change the fact that he's small.

Just ask yourself this: if Bods was 6'1 215 lbs, do you think that he would have cleared waivers twice?

Bods is Bieksa lite.

Not sure why Bods wasn't plucked off waivers last time, A-Mart is not 6'1". I have met the guy in person, He is my height out of hockey gear (About 5'11").

Not even sure why Clune or Cliche were picked off waivers. Both guys are just waiver fodder.

Then someone like Bods can't get a chance or Kozun. Clune is smaller than Bods.

I can see why Hickey was claimed, that is a boom or bust claim that worked out for NYI. Also the Kings did all the hard work with his development.

Hickey is turning into a top four defender, that the NYI paid nothing to get. Hickey is a slimmer version of Bods.

Bods needs to add some weight/muscles to his frame.

And Martinez isn't 5'11. I don't care if you saw him in person or not. If Martinez is 5'11 then half the kings are 5'11.

This is why Trevor Lewis and Kyle Clifford should not have been resigned.

Andy/Weal/Nolan.....That is a fourth line that would score. Or King/Weal/Nolan.

Sure the Kings would miss Lewis in the D zone and PK, but Lewis is expensive for a PK/D specialist that doesn't provide offense AT ALL. Not sure what to make of Clifford, he is expensive for what he does as well. Not going to the AHL ruined what ever potential Clifford had.

Or you could even go Weal/Andy/Nolan or King/Andy/Weal.

Bods is about 190 LBS of nothing but Muscle .....Size is not Bods problem, It might be his age and the fact that a team would only control him for one season, then he gets a raise.

I am not even sure if the Kings ever had plans for Bods. Sure doesn't look like it.

Each team has a process, sometimes it doesn't make sense. Just look at Gravel.

The whole Gravel thing is bizarre world. The Kings may lose him Aug 15th for nothing. Flip side of that, the Kings invested nothing in Gravel other than a 5th round pick. He has been in the NCAA this whole time.

I'de rather see Bodnarchuk make the line-up than McNabb, call me crazy but I've seen him and the guy is already NHL ready.

Okay then, you're crazy. :)

If the Kings had any such confidence in Bodnarchuk then guys like Nicolas Deslauriers and Hudson Fasching would not have been traded to Buffalo.

I don't know how you can say it's not lack of Bods size that's holding him back. It may not be the only reason, but I'm thinking it's part of the reason. In any case, we'll just agree to disagree here.

As for Gravel, sure, it sucks to lose someone with Gravel's potential, but like you've said, we really haven't invested much in him if anything. Hopefully, it can be ironed out, but then again, we still have guys like Forbort and Bods that can fill the void in the near future, if not already, so I'm not too concerned here.

Yeah, I don't think size is holding Bods back, he's basically Andrew Ference-build. That means he might not have a place on this team in particular, but I'm sure there are other reasons. He can crack the roster on some other teams I'm sure, but many teams don't like their bottom pairing guys to be smallish, and add that to the glut of #5-#7 d-men around the league, and he's the kind of guy who is going to need the right time as well as place to break in and shine.

Don't forget he was the last cut last year. That doesn't mean he can't be surpassed this year, but he's a bubble guy on the best defensive team in hockey, so there are explanations beyond just size for sure.

Oh, I'm sure there are dmen in the nhl that are Bods size. What I'm saying is that if he were bigger, he'd likely would have already been a King, or at least have gotten claimed. Heck, all you have to see is 6'4 Ellerby get claimed and 5'10 Bods not get claimed.

^^^^^ this if Dean had any confidence in any of the d-men in D/men then McNabb would never have been a King. McNabb will prove to be the best of the young d/men in our system.

The Sports Illustrated article said that Richards, at 5'11" is the only Kings player under 6 feet tall. Besides Richards, I don't foresee the Kings having a player under 6' on the roster anytime soon, unless a player is exceptional and wins wherever he goes.

My friend gave me a Peter Mueller game used stick the other day. It must be an omen!

The curve on his stick is so wicked it is unusable. I don't think you could possibly shoot the puck on the ground with it. I don't understand how players can use a stick like that. If you threw it hard enough, it would probably come back to you.

That looks nasty. I use the Heatley curve and have a hard time keeping shots low. With this curve I'd probably be shooting pucks into the ceiling.

Nothing AFAIK. I believe his arbitration hearing is 8/1 (Friday). So I'd bet we hear something Mon/Tue of next week regarding the arbitration ruling.

And Wed/Thur about him being traded.

If my memory serves me right, the only Kings player to actually ever go through the full arbitration process and have an arbitrator make the ruling during the DL era is/was Cammy... who was traded shortly thereafter.

If King really thinks he's worth more than $1.25M or so, I'm fine with him playing elsewhere.
