I get what you're saying, but I think adding one guy is ok.

The simple answer to your question is whoever is hurt or gives the team the least chance to win on a given night. That could be anyone.

I could also very easily see us going with some sort of rotation among Krebs, R2, JJP and Quinn. Those guys sitting once in every 4 games? Gives them 60 games over the course of the season....plus whatever they play to supplement injured players.

And since they all pretty much need to occupy the same space on the roster (scoring line, managed minutes)....rotating them in makes a ton of sense IMO.

I dont care what anyone says, this I am ok with.

He's a veteran RD who is decent when playing well, a good dude, and takes us a step closer to being the tallest, rangiest team to ever play the game.
If he’s your third pairing RD it’s a world better than Casey Fitzgerald. Anything more wouldn’t be ideal. Doesn’t really matter because there’s a near 0 chance of it happening

I think if you're trying to sign a player like Marchment, he'll probably get a guaranteed top 9 spot, and I'm not sure Adams is going to sign anyone offensively, except maybe 4C or 13-14 forwards.

I started being more critical of the rebuild more recently.

With that said, I don't think there is just one correct way to rebuild.

I kinda think of WWSYD as if Steve Yzerman is the gold standard of GM team building. Detroit was more aggressive than KA was last summer (Leddy, Nedeljkovic), and yet Detroit ended up behind Buffalo in the standings.

NJ was more aggressive last summer (Bernier, Hamilton, Tatar) and also ended up behind Buffalo in the standings.

No guarantees.

Buffalo

Season Preview

“Buffalo fans deserve better and hopefully this season offers some actual optimism. After a decade of false hope, the franchise will have to earn that goodwill this time around.”

At the start of the season there were likely very few people who thought the Sabres would be a team that overperforms their projected output. But they did it. Somehow, the Sabres put together a season actually worthy of optimism — even if it only ended up being five points better than expected. Still, that’s a lot of progress from a year prior. Jeff Skinner bounced back, the kids got better, and Alex Tuch was a great return for Jack Eichel.

Tage Thompson’s big breakout was an especially joyous sight which makes the following line from my preview extremely regrettable: “Tage Thompson is in a similar age cohort to the three (with Arttu Ruotsalainen and Rasmus Asplund) and his main claim to fame is that he is large. Maybe that amounts to something one day, but given his skill set probably not.” Oops? He was projected to be replacement level, but instead looked like a top liner. That’s quite the glow up, one this fan base desperately needed and deserved.

Adams isn't going to overpay for a UFA. And overpaying for a UFA winger with the way this roster is currently constructed is not a smart move.

If Adams were in the market to overpay, it should be for a #1 goalie or a top 4 RHD.

I mean, I'd be fine if they overpaid Copp or Trocheck. I mean, they aren't going to....but I'd have no qualms if they spend heavy for that middle 6 two way C.

Not sure if this was posted earlier

“I do think (an in-person draft) leads to opportunity,” Adams said. “What I have learned over the last couple of years is the majority of things that ultimately will play out on draft day have been worked on for a while. So going back weeks now, there’s been conversations going on with every team and you’re talking about things that they’re looking for and what are we trying to do? And as you get closer, you know that you’re building on those conversations. So they don’t just come together ultimately just within minutes, it’s weeks and months, sometimes.”

It's possible the Sabres look to move up in the Draft or package one or more of their first-round picks for an established young NHL player.

Seems pretty slow today, hasn’t It been busier in recent years the day before the draft? I keep checking for trades during work and there has been nothing!

The 4th period links Burokowsky to the Sabres.

I like Burokowsky a lot...i don't think its a fit at this time.
How exactly are they making this link though?

He’s pending free agent and there is no negotiation period. The Sabres couldn’t have talked to him or his agent. So that side of the equation couldn’t be the source.

On the other side Adams front office rarely leaks anything. So I don’t see how the 4th period would know this. Unless we are to believe the Sabres front office told them.

My experience was in a baseball front office, but there was a code people would use to indicate to a player or team that they were interested before negotiations were actually allowed. In baseball, it was "tell so-and-so I said hi". I.e., if Adams were talking to Burakovsky's agent about another player (or anything else, really) and dropped a "Tell Andre I said hi" at the end, that would be taken as "We're interested, please don't commit to anything without talking to us". Assuming hockey has something similar, it's possible that the agent knows they're interested and leaked it for whatever reason.

Of course, it's also possible they're just making sh*t up.

Maybe the Mettalurg VP told him
