I don’t know what the cost is for a 24 year old 100 point 40 goal player in either assets or extension…but I feel confident in saying Adams won’t pay either.

He’s not that….I look at last year as a career year. He’s more of slightly under a ppg pace. Like mid 70s in points.

Extension would probably be between $10 million and $11 million per year.

If only that’s how contracts worked in any sport ever

For Tkachuk, they shouldn't be. But I completely understand that KA might view them as such.
I don't think I'd be willing to include Quinn. But one of the other two, sure, yeah.

The funny thing with your proposal is if it's Krebs+16 as part of the deal, you'd basically be swapping Tkachuk in as part of the Eichel return.

Eichel+9+Rosen+Portillo for Tkachuk+Tuch+2023 2nd

We can add a forward (including a scorer) without having to move out a guy like Olofsson or Mitts.

This is the Sabres. You can guarantee someone (if not multiple guys) will be on IR at any given point in the season. That's how you find a spot in the lineup for an additional forward. And if by some miracle we are fully healthy, then you have healthy competition and someone better than Anders Bjork is the #13, first guy in the lineup when the inevitable injury does occur. Or if a young kid needs a game or two in the press box to get his head straight.

We should be adding talent to what we have, not trying to swap it out in the hopes of improving the margins. We're not that good yet to play that game. Let's get to the point where we're not feeding significant minutes to the Eakins, Haydens, and Bjorks of the world before we start worrying about upgrading specific players.

(Now if it's a trade and the other team needs that piece in return that's a different story, but you don't trade Olofsson just to make room for Burakovsky. You sign Burakovsky, keep Olofsson, and let Granato figure out how to make the lineup card work with the best 12 forwards he has.)

I think Quinn should be off the table, his potential is ridiculous. But agreed on krebs and peterka—though losing krebs makes us pretty think up the middle
I mean we're hoping quinn has the production Tkachuk has. It's a tradeoff of short term cap space for potential. I He had a great year, but don't think he can be off the table for a player that just dropped 104 points as a 24 year old

It's not a one-on-one trade, there's too much to give up and Adams won't go for it, I wouldn't go either.

Forget about it - we’re Not trading all of that for tkachuk now or ever. It doesn’t fit with our timeline and it doesn’t fit with how the team is being built longitudinally. It’s basically trading all of our young guys for one dude again - and Newsflash he’s not resigning in Buffalo

He's 24 years old -- same as Tage. He certainly fits with our timeline. And holy hyperbole, it's not all of our young guys. We'd still have Cozens, Mitts, TWO of Quinn/Peterka/Krebs, Dahlin, Samuelsson, Power, Jokiharju, Bryson, etc.

And he fits in very well. Always gives max effort. Fast skater. He also brings a physicality that our top 6 is lacking.

Is my proposed deal a bit high? Sure. But ya gotta give to get, and I personally think MT is worth getting. Even given that we'd have to re-sign him to a deal in the Skinner range. And yes, him re-signing here long term would be part of the deal.

The trade wouldn’t be one for one. Sure Quinn for him swapped would be great. But adding two firsts and prospects. That type of trade with Quinn should absolutely be off the table
