Marty starting to grease the skids/massaging the message for them to not be making any moves?
I am not expecting Adams to make any splashy moves between now and training camp.

Sardaryan is already playing in the USA. Kisakov has already signed the ELC and is unlikely to play in Russia. In fairness, every one of the guys you mentioned was either a bonus first rounder or picked outside the first round. We took Rosen after we had already hit big on Power, and we took Johnson after we had already hit big on Cozens. Poltapov isn't coming here anytime soon, he's a CSKA guy who is already signed up to like 2025 I believe, that's going to be a long wait. Possibly same for Sardarian, he's from the CSKA system as well. Kisakov should hopefully be free to do as he pleases and he's already signed, we will see.
I have a feeling that Johnson is getting traded at the draft, to me meeting with a family rep on draft eve is basically "let me know where you're at so I can act accordingly".
Portillo, I still believe he will ultimately sign with us. By all accounts his hesitation to leave school is due to his heavy commitment to getting his business degree and not because he wants to go straight to free agency.

I don't agree with that thinking. A 15OA isn't a bomus pick - you traded an asset for that, or you suffered losing as an org for higher draft priority. In fairness, every one of the guys you mentioned was either a bonus first rounder or picked outside the first round. If he's slapping pee pees, it hasn't leaked. The one thing that has changed under Adams is that the messaging certainly falls in line with whatever the ownership group wants to get out there. Perhaps it was the biggest lesson from the Bills and `trust the process` messaging when they moved out a bunch of vets following their first playoff birth. You'll hear what Adams will say at a press conference coming from the Sabres media radio before Adams even takes the podium.
I'd give up Quinn and 9OA.God damn Tkachuk would be such a great addition to this team. He's everything we need. Pipe dream, though.
Like the player. But, I want nothing to do with the contract that he would be seeking.God damn Tkachuk would be such a great addition to this team. He's everything we need. Pipe dream, though.
First of all, we need a good goalie, no Tkachuk will help us if our goalies are below .90%.God damn Tkachuk would be such a great addition to this team. He's everything we need. Pipe dream, though.
Good teams still miss on more picks than they hit on. Tampa has missed on a ton of picks taken in the first 3 rounds of the draft, but have also found diamonds in the rough. Colorado hasn't developed anyone decent outside of the 1st round since like 2009. Even good teams are generally lucky if they find 1 or 2 NHL caliber players in a given draft year for their entire draft. Occasionally they will have a year where they find more than that but they will also have years where they don't get anything but tweeners or guys who can't stick.Good teams hit and/or develop those 2nd and 3rd round picks into roster players.
For Markstrom? That is way too much. He has 4 yrs and is 32 yrs old.If Calgary is retooling or rebuilding, pick your term, Markstrom’s contract seems like a luxury. Backloaded with signing bonuses and cash heavy. If we were to spend for certainty at the G position until the prospects are ready, I would think that is a possibility. They have Vladar and Wolf in fold. Would 28, Portillo and Ryan Johnson get it done? IDK but I would ask.

I believe he stayed in NA to prepare for UNH's 22-23 season.Sardarian played last season in the USHL for Youngstown, and is attending university this upcoming season. Or at least that is his plan. The current events of the world may have changed that.

Kind of like how Pavel Mintyukov didn't go back to Russia after the 21-22 season ended.

Other than Adams (he won't like that Markstrom is signed for 4 more years), Treliving (he would want more in trade as Portillo has no trade value and Johnson only has trade value as a late '23 2nd), and Markstrom (I don't see him waiving to come to Buffalo) all saying no, it is a good idea.I mean, he has a full NMC so this is a purely hypothetical discussion. But....two prospects that aren't signing here and a late 1st for a Venzia level goalie signed for 4 more years? The aging curve for goalies is different than forwards. I'd be fine with it.
The rumor I read is that Tkachuk’s camp wants to see how things shake out with Gaudreau and how competitive Calgary looks going forward before signing long term.By the way........if the rumors are true that Matthew Tkachuk might be gettable.......I'd love to see Adams take a real, real hard run at him.
2 of our 1sts this year (preferably 9 and 28......but if it's 9 and 16, so be it)
One of Quinn or Peterka or Krebs
Portillo
Rosen
That's gotta be close.
I wonder hypothetically what the cost would be. Does taking on Murray move you up from 9 to 7? Too much, not enough?
Is it worth it?

If Sabres are interested in Murray, then Bales approved him.
I'm not sure about cost, but why would we trade 9 for 7 and then take Lekkerimaki or Geekie at 7?![]()
