Could you imagine having guys like Kadri, Gaudreau, Forsberg, Nichushkin, Burakovsky, Copp. and Trocheck available as UFAs and Debrincat, JT Miller, Fiala, and Tarasenko available for trade and Adams thinks all his young kids will be better than these guys?!?!

You won't see another year with this many quality options available. It would be a huge miss to just sit there with all this cap space and assets, and do nothing because "you don't want to block the kids"

How exactly are they making this link though?

He’s pending free agent and there is no negotiation period. The Sabres couldn’t have talked to him or his agent. So that side of the equation couldn’t be the source.

On the other side Adams front office rarely leaks anything. So I don’t see how the 4th period would know this. Unless we are to believe the Sabres front office told them.

I mean, it's probably just pure conjecture or his agent trying to manufacture a market for them.

There are 31 other teams you can root for. They recently added one to entice you.

I mean I disagree, but I‘ve also consistently been extremely low on Olofsson and still am.
I think they’d trade Olofsson yesterday if they could get value for him. He’s too one dimensional, provides less 5 on 5 value than you want in your top 6 and is already 27 when this season starts. i don’t think they see him as part of their future core at all and will sign him to an extension in hopes he has a full healthy year, hits 30 goals and they can bounce him for value.

I'm the biggest Adams critic you'll find on this board and I don't think we should be investing heavily in UFAs. They typically are expensive in both term and dollars and you are usually paying for a lot of years beyond their peak usefulness. I think there is an organizational lack in terms of a middle six center who can PK/win faceoffs, which is why I'd be willing to overpay for that role via UFA. However, we aren't a player or two away from contending. So while we should be striving to improve both short and long term, it doesn't make sense to burn all the assets to build a ready made veteran team.

No need to burn all the assets, but this team should be adding one of the forwards on the list above.

I'm so sick of hearing that we don't have room because of the "kids". The chances all these kids are better than everyone on that list is slim to none. I would be fine to send Mittelstadt packing to upgrade him, and Adams better be too.

It's just sad that it seems this team has become cheap and a salary dump for other teams trying to constantly turn over a roster to improve.

Quinn and Peterka are going to be THAT good. Thry don’t need to be shopping fir either gets who are looking for long term contracts.

look at the current roster and war game new contracts if they all perform well. How much room will Buffalo have?

idrather sign Olofsson for day 3 yrs or so than a UFA for 6+ yrs.

under contract buffalo has Skinner and Tuch for 4 yrs
they have Quinn and Peterka. They resign Olofsson that’s 5 of your 6 wingers In your top 3 lines.

you look at those drafted in 21 and most in 22 not being near the Sabres till 2025/26 season at the earliest.

the only way they sign a UFA winger if it’s for2 yrs max. If it’s longer then they trade Olofsson.

C and RD are different. A lot of that depends on what happens at 9 and 16. Those you expect to be full time Sabres in 24/25.

Looked back at their 2020 FA list and they had us interested in Athanasiou, Kyle Turris, Duclair, Khudobin, Haula, and Granlund. We weren't listed as a team interested in Taylor Hall though. Their "reported interest" seems like them just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks.

I mean, let’s at least give Mitts this upcoming season before we try to trade him. I’d rather definitively know he has no value than trade him for an underwhelming return.

You could just look to next year's UFA class.

Patrick Kane, David Pastrnak, Dylan Larkin, Bo Horvat, ROR, Tarasenko, Barbashev, Michael Bunting, Weegar, Severson, Dumba,

Quality guys move every off season.

Now is not the time to try and go Tim Murray. But, there are holes in the lineup that Adams should be more aggressive about filling, IMO.

I would not spend big at forward, though.

I think this is KA's "shit or get off the pot" conversation. Sign now, give us a firm commitment or we're trading you who knows where.
Seems like it. He’s said a couple times now all he wants is honesty. If he gets a no he gets moved. If he gets an I don’t know he gets moved. If he gets a tepid yes…they’re going to have to think long and hard if they believe him.

You have to beat a late 2 in return value though because thats what youll be getting if he walks.

Yeah, I think if it's anything but a firm and believable "yes, I will sign with you"........he's gone.

next year we get Kane and go to the ECF

I would hope to think that at this point, it should be "sign today or you are traded".

I think that news about Johnson says he is being traded. It's just a matter of which team and what the move is. You don't try to have a talk on draft day about whether he's signing, that time is gone.

By the way........if the rumors are true that Matthew Tkachuk might be gettable.......I'd love to see Adams take a real, real hard run at him.

2 of our 1sts this year (preferably 9 and 28......but if it's 9 and 16, so be it)
One of Quinn or Peterka or Krebs
Portillo
Rosen

That's gotta be close.
1000%
