Who are your sources? Not specifically, just generally speaking.

I’d assume the deal would include Grichuk?

My sources are those that work in the Jays offices and I will leave it at that. The deal doesnt necessarily involve Grichuk moving out. Gurriel and Teo are options as well depending on the options to acquire.

The goal of this front office is to better balance the lineup now. It is very right handed specific. They were interested in Moustakas prior to him signing with the Reds. The goal at the time was to play him 2B when Guerrero was future at 3rd. Their views have changed and Guerrero is slotted to play 1B.

Adding 2 players like Brantley and Moustakas both LH hitters balances the lineup in a big way. The deal I am hearing is Teo, Roark, Zeuch, Martinez for Gray and Moustakas. The reasoning to keep Grichuk is because of his versatility to play all 3 OF spots.

Take it for what its worth. But thats what I am hearing

Springer's bat is even better than you think
But when you think of Springer, do you think of him as a top-10 hitter across the Major Leagues? Well, if you haven’t yet, now is the time to start.

...

The Commissioner’s report concluded, however, that the Astros abandoned their sign-stealing system at some point during the 2018 season. So if one draws a line at the start of the ‘19 campaign, and assumes Springer has played on the level since then, his performance is elite.
Springer, since start of 2019: .284/.376/.576, 53 HR, 128 RBIs, 12.6 AB per HR

If we end up signing Brantley, can we dump Grichuk instead of Gurriel? If we end up trading Gurriel which SP can we get?

Hmm, not sure I’d like that trade tbh. I’d personally keep Teo. I’d keep Gurriel too.

Think Grichuk is gone either way at this point.

If you sign Brantley you have Gurriel/Brantley/Springer/Tesocar and you still have Rowdy/Vlad at 1B/DH too. Not enough AB's to go around.

I am still on the 'I'll believe when I see it' assumption on Vlad playing 3B.

Fun fact: Brantley had a wRC+ of 134 in 2020. That's awesome! But it also ranks him behind all of Springer, Teoscar, and Gurriel from last year.

If they can bring in Brantley and move Grichuk out instead of Teo or Gurriel, that would be awesome.

If Brantley rumour is true and we assume Gurriel is traded for a SP.

CF - Springer
SS - Bichette
LF - Brantley
DH - Hernandez
2B - Biggio
3B - Vladdy
1B - Tellez
RF - Grichuk
C - Kirk/Jansen

Still think we need a 3B to round things out and push Grichuk out of the lineup, but looks pretty nice.

If this were to happen the Jays will have a dominant bullpen. Yates and Hand are proven closers and would give us the dominant 1-2 punch that the Jays havent had since Henke and Ward. But one arm we signed that people are sleeping on is Chatwood. This guy can throw the heat and since Chicago moved him to bullpen he had been lights out.

Yates
Hand
Romano
Dolis
Chatwood
Cole
Borucki
Stripling
Yamaguchi

I know that list is 2 too many for a bullpen. But gives the Jays options in deals. You would have to think if Hand is signed that Cole, Stripling and Yamaguchi would be dangled or made a part of future deals.
