Donaldson wasn't a hitter who would swing out of his shoes like Jose and EE would. Not to mention he won an MVP with less power numbers, something neither Jose or EE were close to winning in their careers.

Donaldson struck out, swung and missed, and chased out of the zone at a higher percentage than Edwin and Jose in 2015/2016.

He had more gap power and a higher BABIP, but he wasn't a more disciplined hitter than either of those guys.

Ya Bautista had a good eye at the plate and wouldn’t swing at pitches out of the zone too often. Donaldson did.

I really like the potential Brantley signing. I wouldn’t so quick to move any of our main players.

Brantley DH/LF
Gurriel LF/RF/INF
Grichuk RF/CF/LF
Teo 1B/RF/LF/DH
Vlad 3B/1B/DH
Bo SS
Biggio 2B/OF
Springer CF
Jansen C
———————-
Tellez 1B/DH
McGuire C
Espinal INF
Someone else?

I like that depth in the OF. Every year players get hurt, go through slumps. Could have a pretty good rotation of players cycling through LF/RF/DH/1B with almost all those guys capable of playing multiple positions.

I think we might need to prepare ourselves for the fact Vlady might be back at 3B. He looks in good shape from his recent insta pics. He might never be an ideal defender but he’s got a rocket for an arm and if he can get his weight in check it might improve his range so he’s a passable 3B.

Teoscar I have at 1B/RF/DH. I recall him playing 1B last year for a bit though fangraphs doesn’t have a defensive metric for him(that I could find) at 1B. Maybe he was only there sporadically. Either way I’d probably try to get him at 1B and see if he can have a EE level 1B. You want to keep that bat in the lineup.

Maybe someone gets moved but I really like the depth.

I didn't say they were better than or even as good as Donaldson that year. I said they had better K, BB and OBP numbers.

EE and Jose were disicplined hitters with good eyes. They took pitches, worked the count and didn't swing at pitches outside the strike zone.

Im going for a 1-2 hour walk.

I expect us to trade an OF, sign Brantely and Hand before i get back.

I keep wanting to leave but i cant.

How does it come out we signed him, then confirmed by several of the reputable sources.....

.....and then, within 4 hours, he re-signs in Houston
