What about Grichuk and Roark to Balitmore? They need bats and innings. Grichuk always kills them. I assume some prospects can go back too. Roark and Cobb are expiring, they can move them at the deadline for prospects.

Alright, now im gone.

For god's sake, get out of here before we lose Springer too!

Could also mean the Jays want a trade to go through before the signing is complete.

Like I stated earlier. Brantley deal is complete and wont be announced until deal for extra OF is completed. Its a leverage ploy by the Jays. Someone leaked to Hazel and she jumped the gun announcing it as done.

I am being told that the Jays are very angry with this and will shortly announce the Brantley deal. But they are angry because they have lost leverage in a prospective deal that was on the table. I hope this does not cause issues with Hazel and her job!!

So random question and assuming we don’t trade for a pitcher from the outfield

If Bauer wants 35 mil a season is it possible to get tanaka, odorizzi and Paxton for a little more than that amount?

tanaka 18 mil per- 3 years
Odorizzi 15 mil per -3 years
Paxton 7-10 mil (1 year)

that’s a total of 40-43 mil

That's a nightmare waiting to happen, the Jays shouldn't go more than 1 year on Tanaka or Paxton.

We don’t need 3 starters. We already have Ryu, Pearson and Ray who will be 3 of 5.

I mean Marner could win the Art Ross this year, I knew Martin was good, but is he that good?
I said Marner level prospect just so casual fans could understand the caliber of prospect he is. He is the best talent in his draft class and a borderline top 10 prospect in the entire league imo but the MLB draft is far different than the NHL or NBA draft in terms of draft slot $ and whatnot which allows 1OA talents to fall.

With baseball prospects it's much harder to project. Even Vlad was touted as potentially the best hitting prospect ever. So far it hasn't translated, but he could just as easily blow up this year and be the MVP. Just so much variability in baseball performance trajectories

Tanaka and Odorizzi will not get 3 yr deals from anyone. Most they will get is 2yr deals. Tanaka will get 15-16 million per season, Odorizzi will get 12-14 million a season and your spot on with Paxton.

I dont see the Jays going for all 3. Tanaka I am hearing is only signing with Yankees or going back to Japan.

The rumor that wont go away is the Walker will become a Jay again prior to Odorizzi or Paxton. Jays may take a flyer on Paxton near beginning of Spring Training.

Gotcha, wasn't paying as close of attention to the specifics in your statement as I should have.

Yes and no. Donaldson was by far the most well rounded hitter the Jays had but Bautista and Encarnacion weren't exactly trying to get singles and doubles to drive in a run lets be honest lol . Even Pillar was swinging out of his shoes at every plate appearance and Martin struck out a lot as well. Colabello was an anomaly that 2015 season hitting .321 BA and .367 OBP which was 4th on the team that year

in 2015 Jose and EE both had higher OBP's and BB% and lower K% than Donaldson. All 3 of them were well rounded hitters.

I would love to expand the deal and go for Suarez, Gray and Castillo. Hernandez or Gurriel along with Tellez and Groshans and SWR would give the Reds some very good, cheap talent. Jays would have an unbelievable rotation and their 3B for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if trading for a Kyle Hendricks + Bryant combo from the Cubs would be of interest to both teams.
Cubs would need to get very good value for Hendricks and Bryant while in a walk year does hold good enough value. Cubs play in a bad NL Central so even them shedding payroll they can still be in the hunt for the playoffs. Who do they have to beat to win a division? Brewers? Cardinals? The reds are losing Bauer and the Pirates well are the Pirates.

Cubs would need a good value and guys closer to the MLB level than they got in the Darvish deal.
