I think the 2015/16 teams get unfairly labelled as HR or bust, they were first in OBP in 2015 and 2nd in 2016.
Yes and no. Donaldson was by far the most well rounded hitter the Jays had but Bautista and Encarnacion weren't exactly trying to get singles and doubles to drive in a run lets be honest lol . Even Pillar was swinging out of his shoes at every plate appearance and Martin struck out a lot as well. Colabello was an anomaly that 2015 season hitting .321 BA and .367 OBP which was 4th on the team that year

I feel like I will never fully grasp baseball and how to evaluate prospects, but it's fun to follow you guys on here who put more effort into it.

Martin is a Bichette-level prospect imo, I expect him to maybe see some time with the big club in 2022 assuming he continues his growth.

looking at our updated lineup adding Molina for a season makes sense to me. Nothing like a good old veteran catcher IMO.
Like Jumbo with a little more game still to give :)

And hoping we don't move out Lourdes.
Got some Gold Glove votes and his OPS of .882
Springer was .899 in an outstanding season with the bat.

Some other team jumped in. Gonna force the Jays to add a year and $$$$$
I like Brantley but regardless Brantley is a luxury left handed bat, not a need. He's not a big 1 for 1 upgrade on Gurriel-Springer-Hernandez if at all next year and even at 1B/DH is he that much of an upgrade on Tellez and Gurrerro Jr. that would warrant an extra 12-15 million? I'll take him depending on what else we do but that money will go to work either way with or without Brantley. 3 years is a lot as is imo.

ok ok last, one.

Looks like a trade is holding up the Brantley deal. They dont want to deal from a position of weakness (i.e. you now HAVE to move an OFer). The Brantley report probably hurt them in negotiations.

Brantley is an all-star caliber player as the past 3 seasons have shown, he's clutch, a great veteran leader for the young core. If you have the chance of bringing him in at $12-$15 million you do it and fire Grichuk into the sun.

that starter better be legit if we move Teo or Gurriel Jr.

I wonder if the Reds would turn down Kirk, Martinez and Grichuk for Castillo + Moustakas.

1B Vladdy Jr
2B Biggio
SS Bichette
3B Shaw
RF Springer/Gurriel Jr
CF Grichuk
LF Brantley/Hernandez
C Kirk/Jansen

what spending money can do. WOW

What about Grichuk and Roark to Balitmore? They need bats and innings. Grichuk always kills them. I assume some prospects can go back too. Roark and Cobb are expiring, they can move them at the deadline for prospects.

Alright, now im gone.
