Well only one poster was being irrational. The rest are just concerned fans. I agree with most you say except for us being the lone suitor for Springer. No way the Mets are out on him.

Fun thing about the Mets: right now, they have $87 million committed to five players with a number of players getting arbitration raises and Syndergaard, Lindor, Stroman, and Conforto all heading to free agency.

I know Cohen wants to spend, but he's only going to take that so far.

Losing out on Lindor is a saving grace. We would have regretted it with the prospect capital given up and his game going down over the term of the contract he would have been needed to sign. Just look at contracts given to SS in the past and how that turned out. We had to cases ourselves, one that we just stopped paying in Tulo with Reyes being the other. I would rather pay for quality getting better then someone that has already peaked. New York will ruin Lindor as a player. Playing in Cleveland is a hell of alot different then New York.

Bichette is our guy and we will live to see the day where we say thank god we didnt trade for him. Both contract and prospect wise.

I wonder if the Jays strike out on the top FA if they don’t look to Colorado for Story and/or Arenado. I don’t see a lot of teams that would pay their salaries plus have the need like we do. And I don’t see either costing a whole heckuva lot.

I know the Jays didn't need Lindor, but I would have loved him on this team. Great player...great guy. That was my number 1 target all along. Really thought it would happen. Let's see how it unfolds.

I mean, I also want $175 million.

The fact that all 30 teams are letting one of the top pitchers in the FA class just go back to Japan says more than enough about what the market's looking like right now.

Sign Realmuto
Trade for Arenado (price won’t be high)
Trade Jansen for Musgrove or similar
Sign Hendriks

2B Biggio
SS Bichette
3B Arenado
RF Hernandez
C Realmuto
1B Guerrero
DH Tellez
LF Gurriel
CF Grichuk

Ryu- Musgrove-Pearson-Ray-Roark

Yamaguchi
Merryweather
Hatch
Dolis
Hendriks
Cole
Romano
Zeuch

rotation would suck but incredible lineup and solid bullpen

Im starting to lean towards getting "4 good players" vs "2 elite" players if that is the price for them.

I don't trust Shapkins judgement in identifying 4 "good players". They've missed on far more ~$10m/year free agents than they've hit on.

Lindor was not a need. But a luxury. The bluejays really need pitching. Starting and bullpen. That should be the priority.

Infield defense is arguably this team's biggest weakness. A Lindor acquisition would have solved that problem in one fell swoop as it shores up SS and would have enabled Bo to play 2B/3B at a presumably plus level.

I'll take Ryu for $20 million.

So would I. Plus we didn't have to give a 5th year and no loss of draft picks.

Now I would take both vs one over the other. Would be great top of the rotation but not possible as Wheeler didn't want to come here.
