If we could trade Orelvis and Kirk and get back Lindor and the equivalent of a payed down David Price, that's a decent trade I can get behind. Who fits that bill on Cleveland tho? Maybe we throw in Jimenez (a 40FV) and get back Carrasco as the Price alternative?

Honestly, Carrasco is close. We would prob have to add, but not that much to have a similar style deal.

We trading a reliever or 2 somewhere?

I never actually think these tiny little insignificant moves mean anything else is on the horizon, but, since it's what we like to do as fans, it's always fun to speculate how something small could mean something else will happen soonish. This intrigues me because (I think) these two claims mean the 40-man is full, and most guys on the 40-man right now are either good or young enough that you don't want to give up on them.

What does it likely mean? That Castro and Lockett will get waived when the Jays make a bigger addition.
What might it maybe kinda mean if you squint enough? That a bunch of guys are getting moved out in a big trade!

But yeah, it's the first one.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand the point of a virtual Winter meetings. Obviously the scheduled points of business like the rule 5 draft at the end need to be scheduled. But lets all meet virtually so we can get business done is no different than any other day where you can potentially call a rival GM or agent virtually whenever you want.

Hopefully it gets the ball moving on this offseason which has been dead so far.

I was thinking the same thing. I get the winter meetings having everyone in the same building. But virtually? You can do that everyday

Maybe it's just a way for them to justify not doing anything else related to their jobs and just chat with GMs and agents.

It's like when I don't want to book any meetings or take calls at work so book off 2 days in my calendar and work from home.

That’s some high praise. Ahead of guys likes Merryweather, Robberse, Diaz, Winckowski, Zeuch, Palmer and Murray.

Plus he has 2 options remaining.

Would love to sign him. Not sure how much Vladdy would like it. Gotta wonder what the plan would be. Have Lemahieu go between 1st, 3rd, the outfield and DH and have Vladdy splitting time between 1st, 3rd and DH?

Biggio or Lemahieu would be at 2nd and the other at 3rd.

Dunning seems intriguing but missed all of 2019 with TJS. He was their 5th ranked prospect, no way Atkins was giving up a pick in our top 10 even most likely for a one year rental when you can sign Walker, Odorizzi, Happ or Paxton for free as cheaper names.

Well a few pieces moving today should help get ball rolling. Once one of the big names comes off the board I think the other dominoes will start to fall quickly

Hypothetical trades from the Athletic:

GET READY TO FALL OUT OF YOUR CHAIR

Constructing hypothetical Lance Lynn trades between Rangers & Blue Jays or Mets

Trade 3:
Jays get: Lance Lynn and either Rafael Montero or Joely Rodriguez
Rangers get: Orelvis Martinez and either SWR or Alex Manoah

I wouldnt trade one of Martinex, SWR, or Manoah for 1 year of Lynn plus Montero or Rodriguez so i wouldnt entertain trading 2 of them. Again, i think i can find a pitcher comparable to Lynn on the market for nothing but money.

Just as a comparison the Lynn to Jays hypothetical trade from an article a few pages back which I thought was awful. Martinez and SWR is way more than they got, and I don't think Montero or Rodriguez make much of a dent in the value difference. Manoah instead makes it closer, but I think the gtrade the Rangers got was still quite a bit worse. Which makes sense because this proposal was bad.
