Why would he not be available? Go read my previous post. And he's not available. If he were, he wouldn't be traded to the Jays. End of story. Stop bringing up names that will never happen.

You have a source saying hes not available?.
You think getting a Cy Young winner is settling? Haha.
I very much doubt Price is untouchable. Soon he will price (pardon the pun) himself out of TB's price range and they'll need to get what they can for him before that happens. The longer they wait, the less value they get for him. Now might be the best time to trade him right after a CY Young and with multiple years of control still.
Obviously teams hesitate to deal within their divisions, but to completely discard the idea? No team does that. Inter-division trades may be uncommon, but they happen dude.He is not available to the Blue Jays. Common sense dictates this to be the case.
Id rather add a little more to get a younger cy young winner and be able to have him for the foreseeable future and not for the next 3 years.

yeah the Rays would trade Price within their division...give it up...it would take double the speculation to get Price...think D'Arnaud, Syndergard, Sanchez, Gose, and keep adding. No Way the Rays move him within the division unless it was significantly more than another divisons team was offering...so lets put it to rest. Jays have a team NOW that can win for the next 3 years, assuming Dickey re-signs, and so does Johnson, both of which are most likely to re-sign if the Jays dont cheap out, which clearly, they are not going to do. Johnson is young, Morrow is young, Dickey has 3 years left, Buehrle has 3 years left...Romero could rebound...Sanchez will be up to replace Dickey or Buehrle in 3 years...Jays ownership is clearly willing to spend, so if someone leaves, they can go get a new free agent...lets not all get our panties in a knot here.Id rather add a little more to get a younger cy young winner and be able to have him for the foreseeable future and not for the next 3 years.
Not both Synder and Sanchez, but a package including them, why not? I could care less about this inter-division trading crap. If you can make your team better by trading with a team in your division you do it.Yeah, but Price's value is held much higher than Dickey because TB is in our division. Plus would you really want to face TDA, Syndergaard, Sanchez, et al for the next 5+ years?

Longoria they got on an extremely team-friendly deal. They can't afford both him and Price. Price is going to be looking for a Greinke-esque deal in a few years. Tampa needs to follow their blueprint to stay competetive; that involves getting what they can out of their players while they're cheap and dealing them once their value is high for other pre-arbitration blue-chip prospects. Why would he be available? He is not a FA after this upcoming season, is he? Besides, I think they will be able to keep him. They just re-signed Longoria, no reason why they can't re-sign Price.
No i like Dickey i just have a hard time giving up those prospects for 3years of service but i understand why aa is doing it because he wants to win now, its just me.
It makes sense if you can get the better possible package from your division rival than other teams in the league, which the Jays could offer. So in the short term te Rays get beaten over the head with their Price trade, and in the long term the Jays get beaten over the head with their ex prospects...
It makes no sense from any standpoint, and this is notwithstanding the steeper price required.
Again, Price is not a comparable aside from fantasy land, which in the real world, is just that: fantasy.

I'm curious to what people in this thread think a Cy Young winning pitcher is worth? Dickey is being under rated significantly.

I'm just saying that the Jays can match and exceed any offer that other teams put out their and Tampa would be stupid to refuse that offer just because its an inter-division trade.See, you don't get to determine what the other team pays. It would be both of them ++ or he doesn't get traded. As well, the Jays DO care about this inter division crap. If TD turns out great the Jays don't have to face him often. You trade him to the Rays and the Jays face him constantly.
The issue obviously is he's 38. He's the oldest player to win a Cy Young since Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson.
The issue obviously is he's 38 (oldest player to win a Cy Young since Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson) and the quality prospects that are being given up for that likely short term service.
Why did we trade our best prospects? This one I don't get personally.
I speculate that a package of D'Arnaud, Gose, Syndergaard, and Nolin would be close to what Tampa would be looking for, would they not? If you were Friedman and you knew you soon wouldn't be able to afford Price would you not take that package to stay competetive? It would likely include both of them. Like I'm not even kidding when I say this. If you think AA (allegedly) overpaid for Dickey just imagine what Friedman would be asking (and likely getting) for Price.
