So if fans don't want us to trade prospects for Dickey, what do you want??

Should we trade Baustista & EE for a bunch of prospects, and build around TDA seeing how he is "untradable" he is in peoples minds?!?

I really don't get it. We seem so close to a top notch contender, and we (potentially) go out and get a Cy Young winner from last season, and there is anger everywhere.

AA is showing some balls. He is putting trust in his players & scouting staff. We can always restock the farm.

Almost feels like some fans are afraid to win, like its been that long.

Step aside Yanks, I'm ready for us to be the big bully in this playground!

I don't think anyone has a problem trading prospects to get Dickey. It's more of the quality and amount. D'Arnaud should be more than enough. I think people just don't like to hear that Syndergaard and Sanchez are being involved.

It's pretty simple for me... AA built an elite farm system in 3 years...

He's eared the right to use that system to win now

I have full faith he can build an elite system again given another 3 years

I loved the Marlins trade. Made sense. Trading TDa and possibilty another top prospect for Dickey when he quite possibily become a FA does not make sense to me. It is too risky especially if the Jays do not make the playoffs. If Dickey walks and JJ walks. Then what?

You are looking at complete worst case though. Keep in mind Bautista won't be a top notch hitter forever

That's the risk you take in deals.

What if we win the WS and TDA busts?

I can do it too

If the Jays acquire Dickey, I believe they have a better chance at not making the playoffs than winning the WS. How many teams go from no playoffs in like 5+ years to winning the WS? Very few.

Yes, that is exactly what I said :shakehead :shakehead

People are acting like trading D'Anaurd is like trading a future hall of famer. It's not. Snider got the same hype, and he didn't turn out good at all.

Point is, in baseball especially, prospects can go either way, and when we are trying to win, you have to take risks.

Would I prefer to deal JPA and keep D'Anaurd? Sure. But you have to give up quality to get a cy young winner.

Difference: decent OF are a dime a dozen, decent catchers are hard to find. Buck got 6 mill last year and he's mediocure at best. Catcher is the hardest position to play and if you have a good one could potentially wheel in good pitchers as well

How many teams add a legit lead off hitter, solid number 2 hitter, 2 aces and a solid number 3 pitcher in 1 offseason?

Guys, I think the NY Mets are blowing smoke to get a better package from another team.

Thats why I have faith in AA. He isn't a dumby. I'm sure he is working on deals for both. The guy has proven he knows his stuff. I don't see him trading his future for 1 year of two pitchers with no intent on signing them.

Hey if we win a WS and can't sign either of the guys, I could still live with that.

I'd rather say I got to watch my team win a WS then watch a HOF catcher. Sorry thats just the way I am. I like to win ;)

Not too many. Playoff experience is huge and the Jays do not have much. There is the potential that AA is putting all of his eggs into one basket with this trade. The Jays might have to win this season. If they don't, it will be very hard for them to compete unless they go after big FAs.

I honestly think he will resign at least one, if not both of JJ & Dickey

Snider has nothing to do with TDA, totally different skill sets. Just because one failed doesn't mean the other one will as well and using that isn't a justifiable reasoning for trading TDA. Yes, we have to give up quality for a good pitcher but he's not all we're giving up.

There is a lot of value for having talented major league ready prospects who will make nothing.

correlation does not equal causation.

JJ might wait until the season is over. Dickey looks promising but until it he signs, you can't count on it.

Getting Dickey doesn't guarantee a playoff birth let alone the WS. If neither JJ and Dickey are signed, the Jays most likely have chances in the nex few years to win one either.

And that value is a 2012 CY Young winner

True,,, but it definitley doesn't hurt our chances, only improves.

I wonder with these new names popping up if their is a chance that the deal has changed and all these names are not included.

Maybe

Mets receive Gose, Synergaard and Buck, and we keep TDA?

I have no idea though if the mets would go for that, I feel its fair value but they might not.

I'm kinda hoping this trade falls through, the asking price is ridiculous

Me too ... I'd like to see the core of this team prove they can make the playoffs and show me that they're 1 big move from being over the top before dealing TDA and Gose

All of this just doesn't seem like an AA move to move.. Doesn't make sense
