I know this is continued to be said, but is there any proof for this? IIRC Dickey said so himself, but I don't think he's going to say "Oh year I'm gonna pitch till about 39 tops".

Giving up TDA for a 38 y/o Cy young pitcher who realistically 'figured' it out 3 years ago in the NL is risky imo.

I expect him to be a good starter for the next year or two at least but its tough to say he will be competing for that again next year or so.

His numbers his last 3 seasons have basically been identical to David Price's.

One could argue because of Dickey's condition, that he could pitch longer than Price. It would be a stretch, but it certainly isn't crazy talk the way Dickey has been talking about pitching many more years.

Well, successful knuckleballers typically pitch into their 40s so 41-42 doesn't seem to be a real stretch.

Him being a late bloomer (career wise), and the AL not being familiar with him, who knows when he'll overstay his welcome.

(FWIW wakefield pitched till he was 44, phil nierko 48, joe nierko 43, candiotti 41...)

These 11 knuckleballers, if you average the ages at which they threw their final major league pitches, lasted until they were 42 years old. Seven of them lasted in the majors past their 40th birthday, in most cases, way past their 40th birthday.

You don't do that. If you're giving up D'Arnaud, and Syndergaard you're getting more than 1 year of Dickey. The Catcher and weak prospect is basically a wash so you don't do that.

If that's the legit deal(which I doubt it is, just Mets reporters spitballing) then AA should hang up the phone.

This deal sucks.
 
All reports are coming from mets reporters who could be inflating his price for other teams.
 
And Buck is in that deal too? So we give up our current back up catcher and than don't have one?

Wow, that deal flat out sucks. Stay away AA, please!!

I'm thinking this is just smoke being blown at this point. Leaks are almost never this one-sided. Just a ruse to drive up Dickey's value, Mets using NY post to do so. I'll only belive this if a Heyman/Rosenthal reports this.
