- Deal is close, if not imminent
- Not sure what hold up is, could be players or physical stiff
- Deal will likely happen without a Dickey extension, however
- Good chance the Jays have already felt out the Dickey camp, in "back room negotiations"
- Will be a multi-player deal
- Thinks Dickey is not a fluke as he has had 3 straight good if not great years, and will be able to post solid numbers once again

he also said that the Mets are not allowing extension talk to happen, and it likely will go through without an extension (and the jays will take the risk)

why would the Mets do that? If they let him talk to the Jays and agree to an extension wouldn't they get more value in return?

Didn't mention that the Mets won't allow extension talks.

We are Toronto fans after all.

Us Leaf fans would be mad if we won the SC, we'd get the 30th overall pick instead of first

That's why we trade our 1st rounder, then it doesn't matter if we win the cup, we don't get the pick anyway :sarcasm:

Wouldn't doubt it.

People need to realize that in 2 years, AA will have added many more prospects again, which starts with the 10th Overall pick this year.

We could end up having a World Series type roster, and a Top 10 prospect pool.

This is all a part of AA's plan

I thought he said when he was on Sportsnet Connected that the Mets weren't allowed Dickey to talk to the Jays. I could be mistaken though.

But didn't Dickey tweet last night that he was taking a break from the trade discussions. If there was no talk between him and the Jays he wouldn't even be involved in the discussions, he would just be informed that he was about to be traded, hence he must be in discussions with the Jays about an extension?

In my opinion, the risk isn't worth it. Obviously we don't know the final deal, but possibly 1, possibly 3 years of Dickey is not worth 2 of our top 3/4 prospects in my opinion. You don't need to hoard them, but an excellent farm system is very beneficial.

What is this farm system talk? TDA is ready for the majors NOW, as long as health permits (by all accounts, he is healthy). Lets not act he is an AAA player, he is a major leaguer. He would have been in the majors sooner if it wasn't for getting injured as well. Lets not act like this guy is 1-2-3 years away. He will contribute this year.

More of a break from trade rumors. I'm sure that his phone was blowing up with Texts, tweets, phone calls and such about being dealt. Probably just turned off the phone to spend time with family after yesterday's horrific happenings

He has never played in the major leagues, thus is not a major leaguer. There are no guarentees with prospects, I thought for sure Snider was a future superstar here

You're right, he's totally a major leaguer, he's practically a vet.

What? That's what, around 6.0 WAR over a full season? That would shock everyone if D'Arnaud put that up in his first season. That's even higher than Posey in his rookie year.

I was referring to their (Grandal and d'Arnaud's) careers, but either way, short spurts of awesomeness aren't unheard of. It wouldn't shock me to see d'Arnaud come up and hit the crap out of the ball. That doesn't mean he's going to be a 10 WAR per year player over his career.

I mean, Brett Lawrie had a 2.7 WAR in 47 games in 2011. Does that mean he was/is going to be a 9.3 WAR player (yearly)?

Besides, the point of the post, which you conveniently ignored, was that d'Arnaud doesn't have to be special to be better than J.P. was last year. He merely has to be an average major-league catcher, which I fully expect him to be, right out of the gate, when he's given a chance.
