I doubt it. Gose has a terrible bat. Rasmus has solid power and is a great fielder.

Gose has a terrible bat but he still got on base more than Colby last season. And was much more dangerous when he did get on base.

Rasmus is a decent fielder but Gose is much better. Better range and a much better arm.

Gose has solid power too. He has the potential to hit 15-20 home runs and 20 triples. And Gose arguably has the best outfield defence in our entire organization.

Only in Toronto (the most frustrating sports city for a fan in the world) would people be pissed about acquiring a top player, regardless of the price (which has yet to be released)

If the Jays win the World Series, it will have been worth it, and that's what its all about. If it backfires, you can look back and say it was a bad trade.

Dickey is 38, only play 3 full season in MLB and prior to this season showed nothing--giving him a huge contract is a bad idea

Prior to this season showed nothing?

It's been statistically proven throughout the last 2-3 threads that Dickey's last 3 years compares to that of David Price's.

And have Melky as a pinch hitter? Rasmus is entirely expendable. I'd be super excited if the Jays were able to keep Gose instead of Rasmus.
I don't think they meant this year... Gose won't be starting with the Jays barring injuries.

Well you said people are complaining about it regardless of price, which is the opposite of whats happening

If you meant the opposite, I don't really disagree, but that's also because this is an exceptionally unique situation

I did mean the opposite. I just mean I just find it hard to believe people are upset about this deal. Even if the rumoured names are correct, which is considered a hefty price, this staff is set to be stacked. Its exciting times to be a Blue Jays fan.

Rasmus has never been a stud for us. He has potential but has never lived up to it.

Gose is already a better player based on his D, arm and base running alone.

The point being there is absolutely no need to give up on Rasmus right now. Especially while he is still under team control.

It was already exciting times to be a Blue Jays fan. giving up that for just Dickey would be going all in and we don't even know how the rest of the team will play together yet.

You have to give up something. And most would rather it be Rasmus than TDA or Gose.

Losing TDA hurts. I still always thought it would be a good idea to eventually convert JPA to 1B and keep TDA at catcher. Gose just hasnt sold me on his bat yet.
