I have been willing to give AA the benefit of the doubt plenty of times but in previous deals there was at least some red flags to why he moved who he did. Snider did not appear to improve his penchant for striking out and Musgrove and Comer has velocity issues. There are no warts on either TDA or Syndergaard.

There actually is with d'Arnaud.

He has a pretty strong injury history (back injury now knee injury) and he strikes out quite a bit. The injury bit is definitely the more concerning seeing hes a catcher and they experiance tons of wear and tear.

Listen I'm a huge d'Arnaud fan but lets not act like hes a flawless prospect.

it tells me that:
- AA likes JPA more than we thought
- AA doesnt value d'arnaud as that untouchable player but only very good but not great

and JPA was so confident he wasnt going anywhere
this was meant to happen

It isn't necessarily about worts, rather just different valuations of where said player is going to end up when he gets to the show. You say Buster Posey because of x, perhaps he doesn't agree. As a matter of fact I think him being available shows he isn't certain he is getting rid of a future mvp caliber catcher. You're right, you don't trade those players.

And eventually, he decided that winning was more important than being a Blue Jay. And I respect that decision, but in my mind, that should be the end of him being a Blue Jay. He shouldn't just be allowed to come back if the Jays become contenders.

First I care more about winning than any of that crap. Doc, TDA and Syndergaard >>>> Dickey.

And I'm happy doc let us get a good return for him rather than leave as an FA or refusing to sign a deal with philly improving our return.
There are several former players who deserve some bitter feelings from our end. Doc isnt one of them. He helped this team alot on the way out and really didnt have to.

And Taylor was traded for Wallace who was traded for Gose who was who AA wanted originally.

I'm well aware of that. We're talking about how the Halladay trade compares to this trade. Gose was not part of the Halladay trade.

Gose may be who he wanted and ended up with but it isnt who he got. It cant be considered the price Philly's GM paid.

Wallace can imo because it was all part of the same deal.

I'm not bitter. I'm just not keen on players returning to old teams, particularly when the decision to leave was the player's.

I'd love to get Dickey on this squad, but the thought of him for d'Arnaud and Syndengaard is sickening.

We don't need him, why not go for a #3/4 guy? Still moves Happ to swing man and gives us a legit starter, but shouldn't cost is 2 of our 3 top prospects.

He could have left way before he signed his extension with the Jays. He was very classy about the way he left, everyone understood the Jays weren't going to win anytime soon and he almost won a couple times with Philly.

Doc holiday is a stud, any jays fan who says halladay didn't care about the jays is a complete moron, obviously if a team Is going to rebuild he wants to leave, he just did it a way more honourable way than some other certain captain did in toronto and roy should be honoured, and if he so said one word about coming back to the jays the whole city might blow up.

It makes the team better in the short and long term. Why would the rest mater?

If you dont want him back despite that it has to be bitterness.

what's so special about syndegaard.
is he the next halladay ?

yes he is #1 on the pitching prospect list
but that list seems to keep changing

not too long ago i remember in the top 5:
drabek
hutchison
mcguire

But should be considered who we got.

Either way, Wallace and Drabek were both very highly touted back then.

He didn't have to let us trade him, and he certainly didn't have to negotiate a new contract once he did drastically increasing his value.

He could have played out his final year with us and gotten more money as an FA to sign with any team he wanted. Leaving us with nothing in return.

But Syndergaard is equally as highly rated as Drabek was and D'Arnaud now is worth more then D'Arnaud + Taylor was then.
