So Tyler Bozak is better than Nathan Mackinnon? He is more proven in the bigs.

Its pretty much the same comparison. TDA has the potential to be one of the best catchers in the game and if JPA can improve he has the potential to be average.

JPA seems like a really cool guy, and good in the clubhouse but he is below average defensively and below average offensively.

His power and personality blind people to how mediocre he really is.

Although I agree with your concept, it's very hard to compare hockey and baseball when it comes to prospects and development.

Plus, you're getting the CY Young award winner, not a Tyler Bozak-esque player.

He was comparing d'Arnaud to JPA.

One thing for all those people that say Dickey will age well because the knuckleball doesn't put the same strain on you arm.

No one else has ever thrown a knucker like him before. We don't really know what kind of strain throwing a knuckleball that hard will have long term.

Only way TDA and Gose or Syndergaard are packaged together Zack Wheeler is part of the pkg coming back.
Even still I think the correct approach would be to go into the season and see what we got before trading any more of our future. If we are contending by August then bring in the help needed at the positions needed. If we are sucking it up by then... Well then start throwing some of these guys over board to re coup some prospects.

You know when I write out something like that ^(my previous post)^ I feel kind bad. I believe every word is true but he is such a nice likeable guy its hard to tear him down. I know he probably doesn't read HFboards but I wouldn't want him to read something like that.
He really is a cool guy. If he gets delt, he'd be one of my favorite non Jays. I'd rather deal neither catcher but one has to go

He doesn't have a UCL in his elbow so there isn't any strain.

The return is irreverent in the terms in which we were talking.

He said he would rather keep JPA than TDA, because 1 had success in the bigs. Major league experience vs potential can be hard to gauge sometimes but imo this isn't one of them.

Pretty much. I don't want to see him go but if one of the catchers has to it should be him. I'll continue like him if he does and think he could hit 30HR some day but what he brings is alot easier to replace than a prospect like TDA.

And become more likely with age. And the recovery from it is longer.

I don't buy it. This isn't hockey, it's not a full contact sport. All he is doing is pitching, for the most part. There shouldn't be much strain on the rest of his body.

Unless A) #BlueJays sign Dickey to extension and B) #Mets also send back quality prospect. But again, need to see full deal first.

Can't judge reported proposals for #Mets' Dickey until deal complete. At first glance, D'Arnaud-Syndergaard seems overpay by #BlueJays . . .

Evaluators around MLB are beyond shocked TOR is talking about trading Travis d'Arnaud for a player with one year on his contract, Dickey.

There is noway the deal is as reported.

Again, are we really to believe the Jays went from not budging on d'arnaud to also including our #2 prospect?

I'm glad two of the most trusted reporters in baseball still have their heads on straight.

I'm hoping its just an elaborate trolling from someone posing as a "source" and a bunch of idiot New York beat writers buying in and gassing up the hype train.

That's my hope as well. Hopefully AA doesn't do something stupid here. Even just forgetting about Dickey, I didn't really want to trade DA. He's our catcher of the future, not JPA, atleast he should be.

The Blue Jays - Mets deal is expected to be completed in next 24 hours...Blue Jays would like to extend Dickey prior to closing deal

No deal i bet. Too much crap being reported. Lets move on.

I don't want to move on, I just more added from the Mets. If they seriously want Travis d'Arnaud AND Noah Snydergaard, plus a mentor for Travis in John Buck and another Top 10 prospect on top of that, they better be putting in either Jon Niese or Ike Davis in the deal as well. Period!

To Toronto- RA Dickey SP, Josh Thole C and either Jon Niese SP or Ike Davis 1B

To New York Mets- Travis d"Arnaud C, Noah Snydergaard SP, John Buck C and top 10 prospect like Deck McGuire.

That I can live with, anything else is an overpayment. If they take Ike Davis, thier 1st base problems are history and the rotation is set.

If they get Niese, they move Mark Buehrle/Adam Lind type package for a solid 1st baseman. Either way, the line-up should be set.

Rotation

1. RA Dickey
2. Brandon Morrow
3. Josh Johnson
4. Mark Buehrle/Jon Niese
5. Ricky Romero

Everyday Line-Up

SS- Jose Reyes
LF- Melky Cabrera
RF- Jose Bautista
DH- Edwin Encarnacion
1B- Ike Davis/Trade for Buehrle & Lind
3B- Brett Lawrie
CF- Colby Rausmus
C - JP Arencibia
2B- Macier Izturis
