I know every one is going nuts about Dickey but looking over the bench I was wondering who's the extra infielder after Izturis and Cooper?

nobody? Teams only carry 2 extra infielders don't they? 1 extra Catcher, and and extra outfielder

Not many do, and that's the point. The Jays win here and people won't care. No one will return a World Series win for players traded away, even if they were great.

That's because a lot of people posting here aren't really old enough to know. Yes I want us to win another WS but really it's such a weak argument. Getting Dickey doesn't guarantee anything especially not a WS.

AA's philosophy circles around the notion of building a team that can sustain winning and competitiveness year in and out ... This trade counteracts this, that's why it doesn't make sense to me

I don't think AA does the deal without an extension.

I know he doesn't do the deal without an extension.

I'm doubting he does it with an extension. This isn't a 28 year old Cy Young winner. He's 38. Yes, he's a knuckleballer, but still, you never know, 38 is getting up there, he defi nately doesn't have as much value as a younger cy young winner.

I still think 3 years of Dickey is not enough for D'Arnaud and Syndergaard. If they gave us Davis, we give them Lind, and say Sierra then that might do it in my mind, I feel like we gotta get something else besides Dickey if we're giving up that much

that's pretty much how I feel

You guys know I'm not for the deal either but I want to clarify a few things here. I can understand the prospect love we have because we did endure an era where we had a terrible farm year after year. Having said that, there are just too many prospects that Jays possess that we aren't quite familiar with. Guys like Adonys Cardona, Roberto Osuna, A.J Jimenez, Dickie Thon Jr. are all guys that haven't come on the scene yet or haven't been given much exposure. In many cases, those are actually the true untouchables rather than the guys who make it on BA's top 100 prospects list.

I'm not in favor of trading D'Arnaud or Syndergaard but I'm opening your eyes to some prospects that will take their place if they are traded.

Some guys we can be excited about:

D.J Davis
Daniel Norris
Matt Smoral
Marcus Stroman
Anthony Alford
John Stilson

What I don't get is why we are overpaying here. I'm also sure we could get more for TDA and Syndergaard. If you're willing to give them up to make a run then I'm sure you could find a better deal.

Well, one side effect that's clear if we end up trading TDA..... AA is sending a message to JPA. (Unless AA has another deal up his sleeve haha)

I'm not talking about here. Know lots of people in real life who followed the Jays then (My family shared 4 seasons tickets with a couple other friends, my brother was 16/17 during those years and went to a lot of games, I probably went a few times when I was a little kid but I don't remember), they sometimes talk about how good Kent was but that nobody cares because of the World Series wins.

1. why did we trade Halladay?
2. Why didnt we just throw huge dollars at Greinke
3. why on earth are we trading our top 3 prospects for a 38 y/o?
4. we will be relevant for 1 maybe two years.
5. idiotic.

I admire & respect R.A. Dickey, but I wouldn't trade Travis d'Arnaud & Noah Syndergaard to get a 38-year-old knuckleballer. #BlueJays #Mets

1) I hope the Jays have a good infielder in AAA, just saying.

2) I wonder if AA is pulling a smoke screen to help the Mets jack up the value of Dickey and have a smaller deal for Davis?

3) if this some how shrinks to Lind, Rasmus, and cash for Davis, 4th outfielder and Prospect I would not be surprised.

4b) if the above happens, R. Davis would hold the spot for Gose. The amount of steals and opposing pitcher breakdowns will be phenomenal

5. idiotic.

1. He requested a trade. He wanted to play for a winner.
2. Because that would be stupid.
3. We aren't. And him being 38 doesn't matter one iota.
4. 3-5.
5. You're right, your post truly was.

seems the extension is the hold up?

funny how everyone complains when we dont sign big name players, now all of a sudden people care about our future lol

I'm beginning to hate posts like these.

Ffs. No ones complaining about getting Dickey or giving up prospects. It's the fact that (if rumors are true) we are really overpaying when we shouldn't have to.

My take:

I think that dealing D'Arnaud and Syndergaard is highly dangerous as both could become major MLB forces. At the same time, if Anthopolous feels he can deal them and take a shot at the World Series, who can blame him? At the end of the day its about winning. If the Jays make the playoffs at the very least, it will make them a destination players will flock to once again.

Your not going to get a CY winner for nothing, their is a price. Unfortunately the Mets have set the price/

And all we're saying is that price is too high. No one is saying we don't want to win the AL East. No one is saying we don't want to win a World Series. No one is saying never to trade any prospect ever. No one is saying we care more about having a good farm system than making the playoffs.

ALL WE ARE SAYING IS WE THINK THE PRICE IS TOO HIGH.
