Ike Davis would be a great get though I doubt he's in the deal. At Rogers C, his power would play up. Add in he has better contact and OBP skills then Lind, he would be a big upgrade.

As far as I am concerned, AA has given me now reason NOT to trust any of the moves he has made.

Pretty awesome that Melky Cabrera is an after thought in everyone we have acquired.

AA has really never been in a position were hes one move away from possibly having the best team in the AL.

I understand what your saying but we really have no idea what AA is thinking and the climate of this team is drastically different then at any point under his reign.

I refuse to believe he would centre a deal around a potential up and coming star for a 38 year old ace. This makes the KC-TB deal look better for the Royals.

Yeah he's average offensively for a 1B... but when the rumour package is D'arnaud + Gose I except way more coming back. I no it was a small sample size but the fact he hit only .227 is scary IMO. He will improve surely, But even say he gets it up to around .250 Is 30 home runs that great? I mean if it was from the Catcher position it would be amazing but i expect more from 1B.

.188/.277/.342/.618 at home
.262/.335/.566/.902 away

Small sample size but out of his 73 hits on the road he managed to get 22 doubles and 21 home runs for an unheard of .305 ISO. Dude has monster power.

As much as I like d'Arnaud as a prospect he isnt flawless.

He has MAJOR injury concerns (can he stick at C) and he strikes out quite a bit.

I understand what your saying but you have to understand that RA Dickey very well could put this team over the top and its not everyday you can say that. I'd rather it not be d'Arnaud and wish they'd take JPA but I can also understand where AA is coming from if he pulls the trigger. Getting Dickey with a extension also lessens the blow if Johnson decides to walk in the offseason.

Exactly.
His name was actually brought up plenty early in the offseason as a good guy to target. His power is real and it would be a great boost for him to go from that huge ballpark to the homerdome.

That deal isn't as bad for the Royals as people think. Myers strikes out at an alarming clip. He has holes in his swing which may be exploited by major league pitching.

People love prospects, almost too much. D'Arnaud has a great chance at being a good player. You trade that chance for an opportunity to compete for a WS. I hope for the best for TDA, but he also K'd at a 22% rate in AAA. That doesnt even factor in the fact he has been injured several times in his career.

He was absolute junk the first half of the year but ripped it up the second half.

At the end of the day hes a 25yo slugger, whos put up a very reasonable OPS playing in a massive pitchers park and he also plays really good defense.

I dont understand why so many people hate him.

Apparently Davis had valley fever last season which caused him to miss all of Spring Training. That could be attributed to his slow April and May, as well as a ridiculously low and unsustainable BABIP.

If you regress Ike Davis' BABIP to his xBABIP his line looks like: 260/.360/.520, and that is including his poor April and May.

With Dickey, it would give the team 5 starting pitchers that can literally win you games on their own (assuming Romero can bounce back). Yeah, a guy like Happ is solid, but he needs a good outing simply to keep the Jays in a game. A typical game from any of these guys is a "good outing". A far cry from the days the Jays only had Halladay to rely on.

I'm still not for trading D'Arnaud. I'm fine with Arencibia and Gose but not D'Arnaud.

I'll reserve my judgement after I see the other pieces, but if we're giving a prospect of D'Arnaud's caliber we better be Flores or Nimmo back.

I'm with you. This trade worries me.

I honestly feel Dickey gets destroyed in the AL East.

He won't get destroyed but I would expect his FIP to be around 3.50 or something like that. He isn't an ace IMO. Ike Davis in the Rogers center may hit 40 HR.

Who isn't an ace? Dickey?

Exactly.

I'm in favor of Davis, as well.

Yeah, I definitely was exaggerating. In the AL, I see him as a 2-3 pitcher. I'd definitely want Ike back in any deal.

Yes, as noted by his 1 hit, 12K CG against the Rays and his 13K shutout CG against the Orioles last season?
And what about against the Yankees? I just don't trust the guy enough after only one season in a pitchers park in a division that is much easier to pitch in.

Question since many feel its all but done. Don't they need to pass medicals? TDA is hurt, won't that affect it? Can he pass a medical?

Dickey has three years averaging close to 3.00 ERA. People who treat knuckleballers like a Randy Johnson at 38 are just kidding themselves.

Especially if an extension is involved, I'd have little issue dealing Travis D'Arnaud. Already have a decent catcher and the upgrade would be more justified in the starting rotation. AA has been watching why teams that field terrible lineups like Tampa Bay end up winning 90+ games per season. Its not by having a guy like Drew Hutchison as your 3rd starter.

What is more concerning, is the amount after D'Arnaud that is offered up and the quality the Jays get back.

Umm... Why are you guys complaining? Isn't the objective to win NOW?! Let's do this. There has to be a packaged deal, no way AA would trade TDA for Dickey straight up. I hope this is a big deal.

In AA we TRUST!
