They're gonna play Edwin at 1st and Wright as a DH.

This is basically a team with no holes.
 
Lets say that d'Arnaud and Gose get shipped our farm has taken a massive hit this offseason but theres still plenty of talent.

Syndergaard, Sanchez, Osuna, Norris, DJ Davis, Stroman, Smoral, #10 pick, Tirado, Franklin Baretto.

We prolly went from having a top 3 farm to somewhere around #15
 
What really scares me is watching JPA trying to catch Dickeys repotoire.

D'Arnaud and Gose for Dickey would be true overpayment, considering that's what Philly had to give us for Halladay in his prime; and TDA/Gose are more proven now than when they were traded.


Dickey/Halladay on the same valuation? What gives?

Arent you the same guy who only a few days ago was saying we should go all in and not care about prospects?

I'm assuming the deal bigger then just those 3.

Meh, they're batting 7th and 9th in the order.

Remember when Scott Brosius hit above .300 hitting #9 for the stacked Yankees team? When your first 6 batters tire out the pitcher, they tend to make it easier for your bottom third to hit.
 
I see so many people on various sites dumping on Ike Davis....Why?

Hes only 25 years old (only 2 years older then a player like d'Arnaud) and has a career OPS of basically .800 and he played in a huge park.

Ya seems like a big slugger to me. Youngish. 1B. K's alot but most sluggers do. I would take him over Lind easily.

When it was just Gose, I was fine with the valuation. He's not a top prospect, and he's only 1/3rd of the Halladay deal (which makes me feel better on the inside)

Flipping the best C prospect in baseball + Gose really turns things around. And I've always been against trading TDA for anything.

That said...I'm still withholding judgement until the deal and players are finalized. I'm still really high on Dickey and what he can bring to this team in the short term now that we need it.

I was one of the posters here who wanted Dickey but not at the cost of D'arnaud... If it's D'arnaud + we better be getting a huge piece back with Dickey... and not Ike Davis. I hope this falls through, it could. AA is to smart to make that type of trade, and its obviously leaking from the Mets, not the Jays.

Fair enough but Im going to wait until I hear the full deal. If its d'Arnaud and Gose for just Dickey and junk then I'll be upset but I'm a Ike Davis fan so he should be uncluded imo and a good pen arm. Its going to hurt giving up all these good prospects but at the end of the day were going to have a ridiculous team and thats exciting considering how bad the sporting scene has been in toronto forever. I guess the saving grace is that thru alll this we managed to keep our 2 best starting pitcing prospects in Syndergaard and Sanchez.

AA has really never been in a position were hes one move away from possibly having the best team in the AL.

I understand what your saying but we really have no idea what AA is thinking and the climate of this team is drastically different then at any point under his reign.

Well Passan has tweeted that they are looking at medicals. If it does fall through you better hope something shows up there that scares the Jays cause it looks to be a done deal.

Yeah he's average offensively for a 1B... but when the rumour package is D'arnaud + Gose I except way more coming back. I no it was a small sample size but the fact he hit only .227 is scary IMO. He will improve surely, But even say he gets it up to around .250 Is 30 home runs that great? I mean if it was from the Catcher position it would be amazing but i expect more from 1B.

He was absolute junk the first half of the year but ripped it up the second half.

At the end of the day hes a 25yo slugger, whos put up a very reasonable OPS playing in a massive pitchers park and he also plays really good defense.

I dont understand why so many people hate him.
