How do you know he will be. Everyone is freaking out about D'Arnaud but the fact is he hasn't had a single major league at bat. Let's calm down a bit. I know he has great potential but I'm just stating a fact here.
With how good D'Arnaud is defensively, he could hang around this league as a starter anyway. Add in the potential with the bat at a marquee position and you have a prospect that is worth the hype.

In other words, if this deal gets done, the Blue Jays are getting back a lot more than just R.A. Dickey on a one-year deal.

For those unfamiliar with Travis D'Arnaud, he's the best catching prospect in the minor leagues. Big bat/arm, superb makeup. Future star.

Speculating Parnell and or Davis could be in the deal among others from Jays. Makes sense. I'd want Dickey with extension first though.

This should put the TDA + Gose rumors to end

People can start to freakin relax now.

Sure we should always assume only the best possible outcome when we make a trade.

Conversely, should we expect the worst when we trade for the reigning Cy Young winner, whose last three years' WHIP average is 1.15? Especially when any extension won't be for more than a couple of years?

My problem isn't the power - like I said it's the OBP. Yeah, it's nice to have guys with pop. But we have plenty of them. We don't need a 3rd JPA/Rasmus in the lineup (low OBP, high power). Lind was hitting around .345 OBP in the second half and I only expect that number to go up with Chad helping him out. He sucked ever since Murphy came aboard.

But people have informed me, his OBP is low because of New York. So if we acquire him, hopefully he can get up around a .330 clip.

I don't want to get carried away with the Davis thing, because its spitballing... but he was hitting .302 with a .383 OBP last year before his injury... and .264 with a .354 OBP in his rookie year.

This more power less contact thing was not the norm for him.

Adam Lind's .345 OBP last season was over a statistically insignificant sample size, it is very unrealistic to expect him to replicate that mark moving forward, nevermind improve upon it.

I'll do back flips if he even comes close to that to be quite honest.

why the *** do we need Davis for?? look at his avg and OBP last year. we don't need another Brad Fullmer, i rather count on Lind bouncing back, he was acutally ok after he got called back up..

fine if they come cheap but not for TDA and potentially Gose

beyond pissed right now

Ike had a .900 OPS on the road. People seem to forget Citi Field is a power sucker.

Even If the Jays deal both D'Arnaud and Gose, they have potential replacements in Jimenez, Nessy, DJ Davis, and Anthony Alford already in the system.

This is the reason AA beefed up the Farm System, so he could make moves when needed. I'm not overly inclined to give up D'Arnaud but Dickey (and hopefully Davis) makes us possible favorites for a WS.

Haha I'm just gonna take this topic right off the rails.

4-5 years away.

We may not be the #1 favourite but in all honesty you would have to think we're top 5.

After falling in love with TDA for the last couple years, this sucks. I want to get excited but apart from Dickey there really is not anything else on the Mets that could make the scales turn in favor of the Jays. As it is TDA for Dickey+ is bad for us. That is because there is no "+" that could make it any better from the Mets.

Thats not what its about. We're getting a top 10 pitcher in the MLB last year. Sure you've gotta give up a very good prospect, but it takes talent to get talent. And we're trading from a position of strength.

The last prospect we had this highly touted, and seemed like a sure thing was Travis Snider. Looking back, before he played in the majors he was at his highest value.

I'm not saying Darnaud is going to turn out like Snider... but you're getting a great player for a might be great.

Yeah I remember back maybe 4 or 5 years ago we had a trade offer for Snider, and while I don't recall who was supposed to be coming the other way, everyone was saying you don't do that, Snider our best prospect, he will be a stud one day, blah blah blah.

Like I said I can't remember who was coming the other way, and we weren't that close to seriously competing back then so maybe it wasn't the right move but it just goes to show how quick someone can go from can't miss to a nobody.

Dickey will put us really close to WS favorites next year, I'd hate to lose D'Arnaud but you never really know how good he will turn out. Assuming we get Dickey signed to an extension or there's something more coming, or both I don't mind trading Travis.

I loved Fullmer so much as a kid that I used to pull my sleeve up everytime I got on the batters box lol

then he's not a very smart hitter, why would you shoot for the moon everytime when you know your home field is not HR friendly, didn't seem to be a problem with teammates who has better avg than him (which was everyone else in team)

sorry just gonna wait for the final details.
