Well assuming Pettersson Chytil Lekkerimaki is a line next year, we need a whole new 2nd line, or 1st depending on how you look at it

I have warmed up to the idea of trading for Zegras. He has 2 power play points in the last two years. That is 63 games played and 30 points. He has been injured but even when he plays he is used all over the lineup and he has no confidence. Deployment looks pretty average not being heavily sheltered anymore. Ducks are so bad defensively nobody is really gonna grade out well in there system. I think there are sign that he could improve, get his confidence up, better deployment, more power play production and better teammates. The acquisition cost won’t be very high too.
Isn’t he just another Kuzmenko?

Zegras and Tocchet.....who that would match made in....er hell, I would think. Sometimes you just have to accept the fact that a flashy first round draft pick with loads of talent, just isn't going to realize it in the NHL.

Certainly the Canucks have had enough experience with those kind of picks over the years.

I suspect them taking him off the market was just a negotiating play for the trade market—rather than a true commitment to the player.

Continuing to play him feels like an anti-negotiating ploy. He just keeps looking worse.

The way he's going he'll probably spend this off season recovering instead of training. They'd be better off resting him for this season and get him fit and on the weights asap. A shot at 2 games of play off revenue trumps a shot at a healthy 1c next year.

Elliotte Friedman last night on HNIC said that teams are attempting to trade for both Brayden and Luke Schenn to unite them on the same playoff team.

Given how much Vancouver has sought to fix its culture mid-season, their need for another center that can play top-nine to replace JTM minutes, and their prior history and admiration for Luke Schenn, and their oodles of cap space to pull it off….

…it’s hard to not see the Canucks being one of the teams considering this.
