Nothing new. AA knew the risk involved in acquiring a player of his talent on a 1yr deal. Dickey would help cushion the blow if JJ decides to test FA next year.

Not to mention we get a draft pick if he leaves after a good season too.

the draft pick doesn't really help us win now

the miami trade becomes a LOT worse if we don't resign Johnson. It instantly goes from a "good trade" to a "bad trade" imo

Of course it doesn't help us win now, but it is a benefit to know that if he plays well and then leaves we do end up with a prospect out of it. Better then losing him for absolutely nothing regardless of if/when the prospect helps us.

I don't like these trade talks... I would 1000x over rather keep TDA and acquire a lesser #4/5 for depth than going out and acquiring a relative unknown in Dickey. You don't need 5 dominant starters to be a WS contender... we already have 3 pitchers who have shown Ace potential in the past few years. We don't need another.

Sure he had a phenomenal season last year, but we're talking about a 38 year old pitcher who, other than last year, has never shown more than Buehrle in quality (quality #3). I think we are making a mistake of selling low on TDA and buying high on Dickey. I truly hope the trade falls through.

As of now, Davis and Parnell could be in the mix I'd say. All dependent on if an extension is worked out though.

If this is the case we're heading into next season in VERY good shape. If Santos doesn't rebound well from his injury the Jays have more than enough capable bodies in the bullpen who can play the closer role. Parnell would only add to that depth and Davis would give us a very good #5 hitter.

What a top 5:

1. Reyes
2. Cabrera
3. Bautista
4. Encarnacion
5. Davis

Other teams pitchers would be frightened, not to mention that they'd still have to face Lawrie and Bonifacio at the plate and on base. Rasmus and JPA are also capable of hitting 20+ homers a year. The power in this lineup would be mind blowing.

No way, Reyes and Beuhrle and Bonafacio are still a huge win

Not to mention that if he bolts as the top Free Agent pitcher on the market it means we get 1 season of an Ace performance out of Johnson too.

If they are going to trade a TDA, couldn't they have used him to fetch a younger arguably better pitcher than Dickey?

#mets, #jays still working to finalize. Jays willing to include d'arnaud, but said to want prospect back with dickey

Only 2 prospects I'm interested in on their end. Both are out of our price range I'd think. Wheeler and Harvey. Maybe he's going for some AAA depth.

I'd want either Wheeler, Harvery or Nimmo.

Ike would be nice.

Once players finalized, dickey now thought willing to talk extension with #jays

So both sides agree d'arnaud can be centerpiece. Trying to finalize last piece.

Bye bye D'Arnaud. Not sure I like this unless Dickey extends.

I think we'll be looking at either him or Flores in terms of prospects. Harvey/Wheeler would be awesome, but oh well.

I'll be happy with either one. Would be a nice small coup getting either one of them when the focus obviously is on Dickey and D'Arnaud.

Not a prospect. Will be entering his 4th year in the bigs.

Who cares? If I'm AA I'm thinking Dickey AND Davis. It would turn Rasmus from a #5 hitter to a #7 hitter. That's a massive upgrade.

The Mets have a high end commodity but it's depreciating. Unless the Mets will cave into Dickey's demand for 2/26 they are in the hole trying to make the most of him in a trade.

Yes replacing Happ with Dickey is big but turning Lind into I. Davis would be big.

Right now, pitching is over priced. Hitting is selling low compared to the pitching market.

i hope AA can restock the cupboards over the next few years. Having cost-controllable young kids helps mightily
