Okay, if Gose and d'Arnaud are both going, we better be getting at least Wheeler and maybe a guy like Fulmer, Valdespin or Vaughn back...

and out of all those players you listed, only 2 aren't pitchers

Theres a good chance we take a position player with the top 10 pick.

Plus we have ALOT of toolsy position players at the real lower levels.

Even if this trade happens were still going to have talent in the farm. Sure its taken a bigtime hit but were still looking at Syndergaard, Sanchez, Osuna, Norris, DJ Davis, Smoral, Stroman, #10 overall pick, Tirado, Franklin Baretto. We prolly went from having a top 3 farm to now prolly in the #15-20 range (something similar to what the Leafs currently have).

It takes a big hit because all of a sudden, the upper levels are pretty much gutted and those guys are a long time away from making any sort of impact. You also lose some depth.

Just sayin', but if going pretty much all-in blows up in our faces, Jays won't be able to do much with being at their payroll limit and then having a little farm system to work with.

But I suppose a total disaster would have to happen for it to completely blow up in our faces. Gotta get Dickey with an extension though.

So if the Dickey deal goes through that means we'll have acquired:

Maicer Izturis, Josh Johnson, Mark Buerhle, Jose Reyes, John Buck, Emilio Bonifacio, Melky Cabrera, RA Dickey and possibly more along with Dickey.

Wow!

All of that for giving up:

D'Arnaud, Escobar, Hechavaria, Nicolino, Marisknick, Mathis, Alvarez, and Desclafani.

I take that, without a question, you get a 1, 2 and 3 in terms of SP, lead off hitter, super sub, LF with good power, starting 2B, and a vet catcher.

What more could you ask for in terms of value back?

LOL That is unbelievable. Talk about bang for your buck.

i remember when we didn't want to trade drabek + snider to Kansas City for Greinke + Gordon

Speak for yourself...

He's right though. We always prefer to take the chance at developing a younger, homegrown talent rather than acquiring a proven player. I love what AA is doing right now. If he can get Davis, Dickey and a reliever from the Mets for D'Arnaud+ I will be absolutely thrilled. This team will have World Series potential.

Yep seriously. Considering we are getting all Major Leaguers that will, for the most part, influence the team for 2 + years (and some, quite significantly) and there is not a large chance all of these kids will have impactful careers, we could come out looking like bandits.
