Not sure if this has been posted but:

Richard Griffin of The Toronto Star reports (on Twitter) that the Blue Jays need to sign Dickey to an extension and receive a top prospect from the Mets if they're going to include d'Arnaud and Gose in the trade.

I'd say the trade shapes out to be something like:

TDA + Gose + Lind + some spart parts/okay prospects
for
Dickey + Davis + reliever + top prospect

Just my guess though.

AA talked about not only improving this team, but sustaining success long term. He called it a freight train that will be a force for a long time. Then why is he trading our top 2 prospects?

Because sometimes you have to give to get. He's not going to have #ninjastatus all the time. We are stocked enough with pitching and a top 10 pick this year where we'll be fine. We'll be able to replenish some of these guys.

well...you always gotta give to get. But theres no reason to trade away our top prospect, we don't even know how good this team is. You don't win the World Series in the offseason

While I agree you have to "give to get"

Elite catchers are the hardest to find in baseball. As someone put it: They come around every decade. A guy that can hit, play stellar defense, has a strong arm and has the power to hit bombs... That calls for something.

They say you don't realize it until its gone. That would be my theory. Obviously that would change if they Jays were World Series Champions in 2013.

Even if this trade happens were still going to have talent in the farm. Sure its taken a bigtime hit but were still looking at Syndergaard, Sanchez, Osuna, Norris, DJ Davis, Smoral, Stroman, #10 overall pick, Tirado, Franklin Baretto. We prolly went from having a top 3 farm to now prolly in the #15-20 range (something similar to what the Leafs currently have).

Well that's all part of the risk AA is willing to deal with. Anything short of a WildCard berth with be a failure.

Been told in NO pemutation is Anthony Goes part of the trade that would send Dickey from #Bluejays to #Mets. But D'Arnaud definitely is in

So to repeat, Anthony Gose is NOT part of the trade talks for Dickey. #Bluejays building a package around D'Arnaud. #Mets

Yes, no Gose in the deal! Huge plus... but mainly because I have little faith in Rasmus anymore.

Ya and teams regularly win without having elite catchers.
It's a great thing to have but how many teams in the league actually have a elite catcher?

I doubt the deal happens based on Dickey not wanting to sign an extension with TO apparently. I bet they were given a window to talk with him and his agent. And the deal is contingent on that. The longer it goes.........:shakehead

Believe it or not, id still say were higher than that. Syndergaard and Sanchez both project to be A prospects. Osuna is currently sitting at B+ I think but I would be surprised if he pushes himself this year to an A-.

Id say around 10 for a current farm ranking, Maybe a little lower. Not bad if D'arnaud(please no ;)) and Gose are traded.

and out of all those players you listed, only 2 aren't pitchers

Why would the Mets send a top prospect????

They are trying to build for the future and we are trying to win now. The trade will clearly reflect these respective organizational goals. I realize that people here love their prospects but let's try and be realistic in our prognostications....

The team that won the world series, has an elite one ;)

This comment just made me feel much more comfortable about trading D'Arnaud...

I never really thought about that to be honest.

Yeah I didn't really get when Martino said that either

The Jays will only be acquiring ML talent in this deal; maybe a minor league filler prospect but it won't be a significant part of the deal.

It's his loss then. Toronto is a great city, any player should feel lucky that they are playing here.
