If the Jays manage to become serious world series contender again the money is not a problem. In 2016 they were 3rd in MLB attendance and stayed in the top 5 in 2017. The only thing keeping them out of the top 3 in 2015 was the fact that they didn't really break out as a team record-wise until after the Tulowitski trade. When the Jays are winning there is hardly a team in baseball that puts more butts into seats. Nevermind that Rogers is one of the richest ownership groups in the MLB.Here's the con about signing Kris Bryant. The Jays could get themselves into a Leafs-like situation in a few years where they're going to have a few guys all locked up to $100M+ deals assuming Vlad and Bo get lifetime deals with the Jays.
You'd have Springer, Berrios, Gausman, Vlad, Bo, and Bryant all making a crapload of money in the years 2025 and 2026 and I certainly would not want that to be the reason why the Jays are going to suddenly lack depth on their team. I know MLB has way more spending power than NHL but that's still a lot of big contracts on a single team
I know that's ages from now but it's worth considering if the Jays truly want to be elite year in year out for the next eternity like the Dodgers are.
True I guess we'll see what happens I'd like it if Bryant joins the team but as players start getting more experience they're gonna want to get paid so that's in the back of my mindIf the Jays manage to become serious world series contender again the money is not a problem. Me too man. The Jays would have without question the best infield in baseball if they can land him and he also is a bonus in that he fills that hole at 3B. So long as people go to games as the Jays are winning like they have in the past and Rogers is willing to spend money should not be a problem for this franchise.True I guess we'll see what happens I'd like it if Bryant joins the team but as players start getting more experience they're gonna want to get paid so that's in the back of my mind
I would kick CM to the curb to keep WalkerWell that would piss me off to no end
Stakes are pretty high for the Mets - it's hard to envision them going with a rookie manager.
Completely agree. It’s just speculation on Walker so he hasn’t gotten an interview.
Also the Mets need to rebuild the entire org, I wouldn’t put it past them to interview Walker as the manager and at the end make a comment insinuating they would want him to be their pitching coach and they would give him a ridiculous amount of money. Perhaps pay him like a manager to be the pitching coach.
Walker was drafted by the Mets and grew up 3-4 hours away.
