This makes me think of Kikuchi.

Up until he went to the pen last year, he had passing interest in making changes (and reverted the second that they didn't work). When the Jays put him in the pen, he started tinkering and improved some of his underlying problems.

Fast forward to the offseason and guy who didn't embrace data at all bought a pitching lab and spent the offseason working on optimizing his pitching mechanics. If he continues along this trajectory, he could be a significant breakout candidate.

 I'm behind on the game right now (just turned it on from the beginning) and it's funny listening to the Sox broadcast ho-hum Orelvis (except to make fun of his name in a "isn't that weird?" sort of way) while talking up Britton as "a real prospect".

That is not the kind of start that any team really wants to see in ST.

Sure, Kluber has 3Ks, but he's thrown too many pitches to too few hitters while facing minor leaguers.

If Kluber thinks that is a positive start, he is in a lot of trouble for the regular season.

Against an MLB roster, he doesn't make it out of the 1st with that output. His only quality pitches were the K pitches.

I don't know how you can watch a play happen, watch the replay, and still describe the whole play incorrectly (the Tapia hit). This NESN crew is absolutely trash.

When did this happen? I'm still trying to catch up after I paused to get breakfast so I'm only in the bottom of the 3rd.

That wasn't as comical as I was expecting. I was expecting him to get like a lucky blooper they sold as if it was an authoritative knock. Instead it was a liner that they just identified all the aspects of the pitch wrong.

The joys of spring training on Rogers sportsnet....
So sick and tired of these lousy announcers. Before I even start on their homerism, their analysis is either so simple or plain garbage.
Makes you really appreciate what we have in most professional sports.

If we get Dan and Joe together for games, it will be the absolute best possible combo.

Edit: In terms of other teams, I love listening to David Cone.

We definitely get Dan & Joe for some games this year. I think Dan is doing play-by-play for all or most of the games. Buck is analyst for m I think, 100 games And Joe is analyst for the rest.

I suspect Dan will have some series off. I’m hoping that when he is off, they use Ben Wagner for play-by-play and just simulcast those games on radio. I really don’t want Matt Devlin doing any games.

I think this is going to be Buck’s final season. The cancer battle has taken a lot out of him. I also think that Sportsnet wants to transition to Dan & Joe as the primary broadcasters. But as usual, I could be wrong,
