I only liked Fowler for his walk rate, at the price he was going to come at, I wasn't too interested. I still think there are better ways to utilize the remaining money.

still early, but with a system not good enough, gonna be hard to add an impact outfielder.

Frankly, at the prices being thrown around, I would be happy with resigning EE and picking up some defensively sound outfielders.

Stay the course, we got some great young players in the system that should perform well for us. We don't need to spend like crazy. Get younger, give the youth a chance to play, and keep playing.

"Over-the-top offer"?

I really wanted Fowler, but this could be a comical contract.

Sit down with EE, get a contract done, and add a defensively sound OF'er.

Fowler's deal expected to be big with stl, as @dgoold said. Unconfirmed, but word is 5 yrs, at least 16M/yr. 80/9M is rumor

16M x 5 is not even that tbh. If it's true, kindly go **** yourself Blue Jays.

I would have been fine with the Jays paying $16M x 5 for Fowler. It's a lot but not ridiculous. Better than doing nothing.

Note that after the ridiculous babip slump to start the year, Tulo pretty much did post a 120ish wrc+ with a normal babip from midmay on.

interestingly, after xander's crazy babip start, from june on his babip fell to normal and he produced at belngino's projected wrc+ the rest of the way too.

To Wit:

Tulo

first 132pa, .189babip, 52wrc+
last 412pa, .293babip, 118wrc+

aside from the crazy babip slump, tulo hit in line with blengino's projection when his babip normalized.

Bogaerts

first 232pa, .404babip, 148wrc+
last 487pa, .300babip, 97wrc+

again, right in line with blengino's projection when his babip normalized.

The 5th year for Desmond probably solidified Fowler's stance of wanting 5 years and not taking any less as far as term.

Didn't mean a team had to give it to him, but I figured they would.
