Put a 6 million dollar d-man in the 5 or 6 role? That's where Markov belongs at best.
He doesn't belong in the top 4.

Plekanec is a 6 million dollar 3rd line centre who's an excellent PKer.

Their salaries can be better used elsewhere for what they bring to the ice.

Don't get me started on what PAP and DD bring at their salaries.

And yet, #4-6 is where Marky will be. No team will want to acquire him to llay him first pairing.

Markov just needs better managed minutes. So does Pleky.

What's wrong with what I wrote?

What has Plekanec done in last 3 playoffs?
What has Markov done in last 3 playoffs?

Pleks/Markov/Chucky are part of the solution, the problem lies with wasted capspace in the tune of 7.5 million dollars on DD/Pap, basically wasting roster spots and over 10% of our capspace for little to nothing.

If MB can get a taker for either of those and then use some draft picks/prospect to get us a top 6 winger, we'll be in good shape. I still think we need an upgrade at center, but I would settle for a proven top line winger.

The overrating of Galchenyuk baffles me.

He hasn't shown anything to demonstrate that he's going to be a #1 centre except the fact that he was drafted #3.

In 3 years, he's shown he's a 3rd line player at best.

Go and look at how many forwards had more than the 46 points Galchenyuk had this season and tell me he's a 3rd line player

:)

Trade Plekanec to Buffalo for the 22nd pick.
Trade Parenteau to Arizona for a 6th round pick.
Trade Emelin to Colorado for a fourth round pick.
Think about trading Prust for a fourth round pick to a team like Dallas.
Trade Minnesota's 2016 second round pick + Martin Reway and Michael Bournival or Christian Thomas for Patrick Sharp.
Trade the odd man out between Thomas and Bournival for a fifth round pick.

Re-sign Beaulieu two years at 1.25M. Petry 6 years at 5.5M. Mitchell 1 year at 1M. Galchenyuk three years at 3.25M. Flynn 1 year at 800K. Tinordi 1 year 700K (one way).

Sign Antoine Vermette (4 years at 4M) or Carl Soderberg (4 years at 4.75M). Sign Upshall 1 year at 1.25M.

Fire Lacroix. Hire a Q coach who's known for his PP.

Pacioretty (4.5M) - Galchenyuk (3.25M) - Gallagher (3.75M)
Sharp (5.9M) - Vermette/Soderberg (4M/4.75M) - Hudon (625K)
Desharnais (3.5M) - Eller (3.5M) - Weise (1.025M)
DLR (925K) - Mitchell (1M) - DSP (800K)
Flynn (800K) - Upshall (1.25M)

Markov (5.75M) - Subban (9M)
Beaulieu (1.25M) - Petry (5.5M)
Tinordi (700K) - Gilbert (2.8M)
Pateryn (562.5K)

Price (6.5M)
Tokarski (562.5K)

That'd be my solution to our team and we get some picks back in a deep draft.

I like your taught-process except for Vermette!! Also I would consider trading Subban if he wears pink pants again at anytime during the season. Loll

you guys are exagerating, we have a pretty good core. There's no need to trade EVERYONE

a couple of great trades for offense (i'm thinking 2 forwards for young players and picks), sign Petry and find a new coach and we're all set

Who are your Centers for the next playoffs DD-Plex-Eller?

:)

so DD at 48 point is also a 2nd line center in the NHL?

Kovalev used to have 5 points night followed by 8 games of assgrabing, stats can overrate a player easily

They are just throwing a tantrum. 2nd stage of grief. Mixed with a bit of bargaining.

Bergevin seems to know where he is going, and seems to be able to catch his.own mistakes. He'll properly find whats the problems, and find ways to improve without crippling.

At the trade deadline your team lacks top 6 scoring, and 1 of the worse teams offensively and on the PP, what do you do? Get 2 4th line players for the worst team in the NHL. ******* You Beregevin.

At $5.5M Penalty Kill specialist is a dumb way of using your cap space in my opinion. Plekanec is a soft 3rd liner. At least Eller brings some physical presence.

PK Subban outproduced DD and Plekanec combined in the playoffs. Bad system or no bad system, that's not good enough. Neither guy is a legit #1 and poor us if we have to watch these 2 back at it in the same roles next season.

Fire Therrien, go hard after Babcock. If not, get Grouxl or Boucher. Sing Petry. Draft well and then get some scoring help and lose some dead weight. Teams are going to need to shed some decent players to get under the cap and MTL has room.

I'd look into Patrick Sharp if the price were right. Same with Eric Staal and Radim Vrbata. I do not want Antoine Vermette, especially at 4 million. The dude was a healthy scratch to start the playoffs when he was brought in to be the 2nd line center on the Hawks and cost a 1st + Dahlbeck.
As far as Vermette is concerned, I don't think he's as bad as he's been with CHI, but I also don't think he's as good as he was in Arizona, he's somewhere in between. An average 2nd line center who's good at faceoffs and in his own end who can chip 50 pts. A slightly worse Plekanec.

Like i said, a tantrum

Trade date deadline acquisitions were all fine, and hardly pricy.

Who Knows
I wonder what the price tag would be on him. (If the Pens would even bother to give an answer)

just imagine the Price the pens will ask for Malkin

if Malkin comes our way, Pacioretty + 1st + 1st + McCaron or Sherbak are going the other way

someone somewhere WILL pay that price

There has been talk of them thinking about trading him to shed salary and the Price would start with Galchenyuk.

Let's give McCarron and Scherbak every opportunity to make the team to improve our RW depth, trade Plekanec and Markov for younger players and draft picks, find someway to package DD and PAP in deals involving late round picks.

Furthermore, focus on Reway more this summer, get him a nice workout regimen, he could be the solution our powerplay is looking for.
