The overrating of Galchenyuk baffles me.

He hasn't shown anything to demonstrate that he's going to be a #1 centre except the fact that he was drafted #3.

In 3 years, he's shown he's a 3rd line player at best.

He played very well at center for 11 games before he was put back at LW for seemingly no reason so there's that.

Come on man! Since when 3rd liners are 20 year old forward fetching close to 50 pts?

On which planet is Eller just as good?

Have you seen him play in the playoffs with 4th line linemates?

Imagine how he'd do with 2nd line line mates and offensive opportunities.

O'Reilly is vastly overrated. He's no Datsyuk, Toews or Bergeron.

He's 2nd line centre at best.

Stay:
Emelin- Markov slowing down, we need someone who can play left side
Eller- You need guys who can step up in the playoffs. He's critical on third line.
Gilbert- Great 5-6 defenseman.
Petry- Has to stay. We can't afford to lose him after Markov's performance.
Pateryn- Great 6th guy. Makes Tinordi expendable.

Go:
Desharnais- Time to move on.
Parenteau- Time to move on.
Tinordi- Pateryn, Beaulieu and Petry have made him expendable.

Needs:
Two top six forwards- Start with Pacioretty, Plekanec, Galchenyuk and Gallagher and fill the holes.

Wants:
New coach- This would be ideal but unlikely.

Trade Plekanec to Buffalo for the 22nd pick.
Trade Parenteau to Arizona for a 6th round pick.
Trade Emelin to Colorado for a fourth round pick.
Think about trading Prust for a fourth round pick to a team like Dallas.
Trade Minnesota's 2016 second round pick + Martin Reway and Michael Bournival or Christian Thomas for Patrick Sharp.
Trade the odd man out between Thomas and Bournival for a fifth round pick.

Re-sign Beaulieu two years at 1.25M. Petry 6 years at 5.5M. Mitchell 1 year at 1M. Galchenyuk three years at 3.25M. Flynn 1 year at 800K. Tinordi 1 year 700K (one way).

Sign Antoine Vermette (4 years at 4M) or Carl Soderberg (4 years at 4.75M). Sign Upshall 1 year at 1.25M.

Fire Lacroix. Hire a Q coach who's known for his PP.

Pacioretty (4.5M) - Galchenyuk (3.25M) - Gallagher (3.75M)
Sharp (5.9M) - Vermette/Soderberg (4M/4.75M) - Hudon (625K)
Desharnais (3.5M) - Eller (3.5M) - Weise (1.025M)
DLR (925K) - Mitchell (1M) - DSP (800K)
Flynn (800K) - Upshall (1.25M)

Markov (5.75M) - Subban (9M)
Beaulieu (1.25M) - Petry (5.5M)
Tinordi (700K) - Gilbert (2.8M)
Pateryn (562.5K)

Price (6.5M)
Tokarski (562.5K)

That'd be my solution to our team and we get some picks back in a deep draft.

you guys are exagerating, we have a pretty good core. There's no need to trade EVERYONE

a couple of great trades for offense (i'm thinking 2 forwards for young players and picks), sign Petry and find a new coach and we're all set

Galchenyuk-Eller-DLR down the middle...who's the 4th line C? Conor McDavid?

Otherwise that's a lineup struggling to make the playoffs, even with Price.

Galchenyuk `> Desharnais
Eller > Plekanec

Bigger, better and younger
Time to move on....it's not like the Plekanec-Desharnais top 6 are doing the job.
They've failed for a 3 straight year to show up in the PO.

DD/PAP are 7.5m in salary wasted. I'd rather have Kessel with all those years left next season than watch those 2 for another 82 games and a 1st or 2nd round exit.

They need serious help on the top 6 and need to get rid of Markov. Markov was god awful 2nd half of this year and playoffs. His age is showing. Get rid of him while he has some value.

Agreed.

We just need to put the right players at the right spot.

Why trade Markov? He's a good defenseman, just put him in a role where he can shine more. Same for Plekanec. He's a good 2 ways-center, just good enough to be a first center of a contender team. Look at Patrice Bergeron, he had to play first center this season for the Bruins and he wasn't good enough getting all the responsibilities.

It's not that are not good players, it's that we put them in a difficult situation, expecting more than they are capable of. Markov on the 2nd pair wouldn't be a problem. We just need a legit top pair D to play with Subban. Plekanec wouldn't be so bad as our 2nd center but we need a legit first center. If Chicago can win the cup with Handzus as a their second center, Plekanec is good enough to be a 2nd center of a contender team.

W7 is right.. Galchenyuk is a bust.
If we can somehow package him and a 1st rounder for a decent #1C, I'm all for it!

I can't see DD or Plekanec fetching anything. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd for Plekanec and a 3rd-4th for DD.
Just to get rid of them, I'd do it.

You're off your rocker.

I'd look into Patrick Sharp if the price were right. Same with Eric Staal and Radim Vrbata. I do not want Antoine Vermette, especially at 4 million. The dude was a healthy scratch to start the playoffs when he was brought in to be the 2nd line center on the Hawks and cost a 1st + Dahlbeck.

Here's the actual plan

Sign Petry
Move DD
Have Mesmer take care of Galchenyuk's confidence
Inject Gallagher with the finishserum
Put DSP in hotdog-rehab for the summer
Drop PAP in the desert with a bottle of water a broken compas
Tell Plekanec that the NHL rules have changed and he'll get a huge bonus if he plays well in the playoffs
When Flynn presents himself at training camp, ask "who are you?" and close the door

there you go, cup winner confirmed

Put a 6 million dollar d-man in the 5 or 6 role? That's where Markov belongs at best.
He doesn't belong in the top 4.

Plekanec is a 6 million dollar 3rd line centre who's an excellent PKer.

Their salaries can be better used elsewhere for what they bring to the ice.

Don't get me started on what PAP and DD bring at their salaries.

They are just throwing a tantrum. 2nd stage of grief. Mixed with a bit of bargaining.

Bergevin seems to know where he is going, and seems to be able to catch his.own mistakes. He'll properly find whats the problems, and find ways to improve without crippling.

In all honesty we are a right now team.
Trade picks and prospects.

First things first trade: Gilbert,PAP,DD and Emelin for anything even a 7th.
Second: Draft forwards(duh)
Third: If not done today FIRE therrien and everyone in the coaching staff ecept for Waite, get Babcock and others
Fourth: Resign everyone important including Petry. Sign Justin Williams
Fifth: Use Plekanec,Sherback,Tinordi(if needed),Smith-Pelly,McCaron,Fucale,1st`s as trading assests. 1st line center and 2 wingers(1 if Justin Williams is not signed) for the top 6. In my mind get Eric Stall,O`reilly or other really talented guys.
Sixth: Call up people send down people.
Seventh: Roll with these lines and let them develop chemistry:

Pacioretty-Stall-Gallagher
O`Reilly-Galchenyuk-Williams
Hudon/De La Rose-Eller-Gettho
Hudon/De La Rose-Mitchell-Weise

Markov-Subban
Beaulieu-Petry
Tinordi(or a ufa)-Pateryn

Price
Tokarski

If things don`t go well use others to upgrade D-core.

I gotta say my hopes are low MB does anything of value.

The top 6 needs retooling completely. Pleks and DD in the top 6 isnt a recipe to the Cup.

Time to actually make the supposed transition they talk about.

This summer we really need to get rid of dead weight. Find a way to move DD, PAP. Then use Emelin, Plekanec, Tinordi, Thomas and Bournival to make trades that bring us futures or a targeted player. Sign Petry, Galchenyuk, and Beaulieu.
