Sadly, nothing will change because management will look at the record (which is due to Price) and think there's no reason for change.

I hope I'm wrong, though. Desharnais and Plekanec are two guys who need to go, as well as Therrien.

I just hope MB acknowledges the top 6 needs to be upgraded. MT probably thinks the offense is fine and just needs a few bounces.

Well the record is good but the season was far from satisfying.

Players I badly want gone :

- David Desharnais
I actually don't mind him that much, but I'm god damn tired to see him on the first line and be man handled in the playoffs.

- Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau
He fits nowhere. He's not skilled enough to be on our top 6. Waste of a roster spot.

- Alexei Emelin
He's god awful. Has no offensive skill and he blows coverage way too much. His only contribution is being physical but all our dmen are starting to be tougher so he's kinda useless now.

- Tom Gilbert
I'll never understand the love he gets here. Seems like once or twice a game he makes a brain fart and it results in a lot of goals against. He was brought here to help our offense and break out of the défensive zone but it's the areas he's been worst at.No, he's not a luxuary of a 6th dman. He blows.

Players I wouldn't mind to be traded :

- Tomas Plekanec
I love Plekanec, he's been one of my favorite players during the past decade and I've defended him a lot, but his play in the playoffs is inexcusable. He could fetch us some key pieces going forward.

- Andrei Markov
Either give him substentially less ice time or trade him. He's not what he used to be. Worst dman in the playoffs right now.

I really like this post.

Unless we get another top 2 center, I highly doubt we trade both #14 and #51. I would prefer #51 gone for the same reasons you mentioned.

Also I know that most of you guys want MT gone but we all know he's staying with the club, at least until 2016. I think it's pretty useless to discuss about Babcock or any other replacement.

They'll say Chucky can't play center because he has no experience. He has no experience because they don't give it to him. Then they'll blame him for not progressing.

Overhaul is needed.

Its a disappointing year for the franchise. A short playoff and all youth stagnating or regressing.

Its sad because what Price did. He was the sole highlight.

You have to ask where this franchise is going. It was a wastec one in terms if supposed development. Add a brutal coaching staff that was inexplicately resigned long term.

This was probably the worst type of year

It was a "transition year" where they used their 21 year old "center" on the wing for 72 games.

And where they destroyed their offensive forward depth from last year.

And thye traded a 2nd round pick for a rental again, despite constant claims from the GM about not willing to sacrifice the future.

In 2012-2013, the Habs added two offensive prospects to their roster in Galchenyuk and Gallagher and gave the team a breath of fresh air. Since then, the Habs have hesitated to continue the trend. Seeing Tampa do exactly that over the last couple of seasons with their young offfensive guns is refreshing.

Maybe the Habs need to infuse Andrighetto and Hudon in the lineup next season and live with their mistakes.

I'm not sure why I'm so calm about this but I think it was inevitable.

Therrien will be here at the start of next season, and every good coach available now will be gone.

Every other roster issue is secondary - we have a fine team that Bergevin had nothing to do with and we still have a fine team. If Bergy adds talent, will we even see it? Therrien's system doesn't allow for that.

I doubt it. I think MT was very aware of his teams lack of skill up front, that's partially why he coached the way he did. You can't have it both ways.

Big question is "did Galchenyuk learn and grow this year?"

We will see next year....but we better hope the answer is yes.

Bergevins' tenure is riddled with half measures.

Since coming on board in Spring 2012, he has done nothing to improve the teams' offensive depth.

They haven't had any real surplus picks gained in that time, and they are now back to back years without a 2nd round pick (something everyone in here loves to condemn Gauthier and Gainey for doing).

43 regular season goals and another 17 playoff goals from Vanek/Briere/Gionta/Bourque last year...

All 4 players are players I'm sure we could agree the team could have improved on.

Yet they significantly downgraded on every level.

I'm looking forward for the people to move the goal posts to justify wasting an MVP year from Price

It's hard to find young impact players.

DLR will be a good bottom-9 player for a while. Hopefully DSP gets in better shape to become a real top-6 player.

Other than that our prospect pool isn't fantastic.

I feel the same way. I'm very ambivalent to how things played out. The team sucked the life out of me this year as fan the way it approached the game. I'm not mad or dejected, I'm just whatever. We'll see what happens.

We need to make REAL moves this off-season. Plekanec, Desharnais, Parenteau... they gotta go. Same with Emelin if we can lock up Petry.

Eric Staal... I was against this earlier in the season, but he'd be a big step up over the guy who played 1st line C about 95% of the season (Desharnais). Plus, he's a big guy. Plekanec being traded opens up the 2nd line center spot. Staal-Galchenyuk-Eller isn't bad at all, but I doubt Bergevin has the balls to make a move like that, or if Staal would even want to come to Montreal.

Vrbata should be someone we keep an eye on, too. He scored 31 goals playing with Bonino most of the year.

What other scorers would be available, or even just players that can play in the top 6?

There will be changes. Need more offense. Character doesn't give you the cup, even with the best goalie in the world in your team. It would be stupid not to get a top 3 this off season. Time to bring young hungry blood.

Difficult when you dont try as well.

Who did mtl even attempt to see if ghetto would flourish offensively.

Took Beaulieu injuriez to be given a sniff.
