We have the worst management in sports. It’s just fail after fail after fail with everything. Hated them since day.
They did a good job of negotiations with the City of Dunedin and Pinellas County to stay in Dunedin. With that they built the best training facility in baseball and did a a great job with what they had to work with on the game stadium .

By all accounts they’re doing a good job with the dome in Toronto.

Can’t really disagree with the statement. Although I believe Bo was a 2nd rounder drafted by them
Looking at the 2017 draft, the best pick so far is Adams, and then Pearson in the top 10.

In 2018, still have Barger and Kloffenstein but I really doubt those two will be good.

In 2019, Manoah and then it falls off. Brown has some potential but I doubt his bat comes through.

They’re pretty solid everywhere on the field, plus they have two of arguably the best bats in the league in Judge and Soto.

Their rotation is good, but that’s with expecting significant bounce back performances especially from someone like Rodon.

The major weak spot I’d say they have is relief pitching, but overall their ranking is pretty justified. I’m not entirely sure about their AAA depth though and if they can afford any of the likely injuries that will come with an aged core.
Injuries was kind of what my focus was on from last year. Soto was a huge add but they are heavily relying on health for u healthy players. Although I believe Judge missed a fair bit of last season as well so him healthy is a big difference in its own

Yeah, it's one thing to expect better health than last year, but they have a bunch of guys with spotty health track records who are now a year older. They're not likely going to get MORE healthy all of a sudden.

Even Judge has had some issues over the years, and now they're moving him to a more demanding position (basically the opposite of what the Jays did to try to help Springer stay healthy.)

Not sure if I should be happy that the Jays sold high on their prospects or be upset that the Jays keep drafting busts.

Outside of picking Groshans (who just got DFA’d by the Marlins) to grab Kloff later on, they’ve pretty much been BPA on every first rounder. I wouldn’t be so overly critical of their development because it’s such a crapshoot to develop a major leaguer, let alone a good one.

Not sure if this was posted here, but Baseball America recently released their farm system rankings. The entire article is paywalled but here were the AL East overall rankings:

Orioles: #1 (despite the Burns trade)
Rays: 7
Yankees: 9 (despite the Soto trade)
Red Sox: 13
Blue Jays: 24

This management group appears to be failing in all aspects.

The Yankees do not belong at 9. Using FG (who actually make some effort to justify their decisions), the Jays are still not good, but NYY is below Toronto (due to having no real prospects)

FWIW, they have Boston 2, Baltimore 8, and TB 4 (all of which could be justified).

The difference between Toronto (and NY) and the others is the number of higher end prospects. Toronto has a 55, NY has a 50 and then all of the teams have similar numbers at the 45 and lower levels.

Been going on since the AA tenure. We haven’t been great at drafting for a while

Blue Jays haven’t been flashy and targeting toolsy guys like in years past. In terms of positional prospects it seems they’ve been trying to corner the market on bat first players. The Schneider’s, Horwitz’s, Roden’s of the world.

Their value is never accurately reflected in organizational rankings unless they’re in the Yankees system.

Sounds to me they are playing hard ball with the remaining free agents leaking that this is their "last major move" in hopes that the price comes down for one of Chapman, Bellinger, Snell or Montgomery.

I thought the same over the last 2-3 offseason and that last move never came so im not holding out hope. But you have to believe they arent done.
