Of the top 150 goal scorers in NHL history there have been only nine who have scored at least 15 goals in each NHL season they played in NHL:

Nash (low 15)
Kane (low 15)--Not including this season
Goulet (low 16)
Vanek (low 16)
Tavares (low 19)--Not including this season
Barber (low 20)
Lemaire (low 20)
Ovechkin (low 24)--Not including this season
Bossy (low 38)

In the 1989-90 regular season, the (otherwise forgettable) Hartford Whalers finished as follows:

On Home-Ice
17th overall (i.e., only four teams were worse)

On the Road
2nd overall (only Boston was better)

That's utterly bizarre. Is there any comparable team in NHL history...?

I noticed something odd about Steve Yzerman's stats in 1992-93 today...

Scoring Leaders on Home-Ice
21st place - Yzerman, 53 points
(he finished behind players like Andreychuk, Housley, Janney)

Scoring Leaders on the Road
1st place - Yzerman, 84 points
(he finished ahead of everyone)

Can anyone explain this?

Alex Tanguay (with a career high of 29 goals) is one of a small handful of players in NHL history to lead the league in shooting percentage twice. And he had the highest shooting percentage from 2000-2009 (min 100 games).

Fifteen different Montreal Canadiens wore #29 after Ken Dryden did.

Has there ever been a player who had his number retired that had *that* many players wear the number after the honoured player retired?

Don't know if it's the record, but by my count 18 different players have worn #19 with the Rangers in the time from when Jean Ratelle was traded to the retirement of the number, with Brad Richards being the most prominent.

Back then you had a waiver draft at the beginning of the season. Think expansion draft but you could protect more players.
Does anyone remember what the reaction was in Montreal when the Habs put Serge Savard on the waiver list eventually claimed by winnipeg?

That is incorrect. The Hulls (Bobby, Dennis and Brett) has no Slovak roots at all.
Their roots are English through and through.
Bobby's paternal grandparents were both natives of Leicester, England, where they also married in 1896.
From Bobby's maternal side they were all from Canada (coming from England in the 1700s).

I didn't have Corson or Wickenheiser on the list. They must have worn it for just a single game before switching to #27 and #25.

Wickenheiser - 1 game (February 6, 1983)
Corson - 6 games (October 30, 1996 - November 9, 1996)

I know Corson's usually #27 was being worn by David Wilkie and once the road trip was over, Wilkie switched to #3 and Corson to #27.... but why would Wickenheiser, years into his career, switch for one game?

The first four times Paul Coffey was traded his old team immediately went to the Stanley Cup Finals four times and three times won the Cup:

1987-88 Oilers-Won Cup
1991-92 Penguins-Won Cup
1992-93 Kings-Lost Cup Finals
1996-97 Redwings-Won Cup (and the year after)

Coffey obviously played on the Cup winners in Edmonton before he was dealt. Same with Pittsburgh in 1991.

25 Bruins wore #22 after Willie O'Ree before they decided to retire it for clout last year.

Håkan Loob scored 26 goals in 73 NHL playoff games. 8 of those goals were shorthanded, which puts him in a tie for 4th all-time in playoff SHG, behind only Messier, Gretzky, and Kurri. Loob only scored 9 SHG in 450 regular season games.

Peter Bondra scored 32 SHG in the regular season but never scored a shorthanded goal in 80 playoff games.

Poor Brad Park. He has a Hall of Fame calibre career for two different franchises, and in both cases the number is retired for somebody else.

Messier once got a 1st place vote for the Byng. This was in his last season with NYR before leaving for VAN. Perhaps NYR saw that vote and realized he'd gotten all nice and soft, and let him go.

Loob only scored 9 SHG in 450 regular season games.

I was too young to follow his Calgary career, but 8 of those came in the same season so I guess it was probably just a case of usage. I remember Loob from the SEL being very effective short-handed, playing keep away. Quite shifty skater and good with the puck.

You can see this with Kent Nilsson in NA too. 16 short-handed goals concentrated over 3 consecutive seasons, and nothing before (3 seasons) or after (2 seasons).
