I don’t think it’s that outlandish.

His contract extension absolutely sucks. I wouldn’t give a thing to take on a $10 million commitment for a bottom-6 guy who sucks defensively and has been mostly terrible for the last 4 years.
Recency bias

Hodlander is not passing through the waiver

He is not a complimentary player whatsoever. At this time he is playing for a tire fire of of an organization. At this time he isn't a good captain but Sidney couldn't captain that team. Brady may yet become a good captain or he may not but he probably needs to get out of Ottawa.
yep. he actually rallied that shit show of a team and they almost tied the game.

I'm just guessing that injury rule on boarding was for when a guy leaves the game with a concussion. Not to get a minor cut that sends him to the back for a minute and he is back to finish the power play. I said this earlier but that rule needs to be looked at. Injury is just too vague. Don't blame the refs for that one because it's technically the rules.

They can get f***ed for the Stützle-Hoglander call though.

I disagree. The rule is on major penalties only, and no way should that be a five min penalty to begin with.

Now on top of that, if they look at change of directions on head shots they should on these too. I know this doesn’t have to do with the current rules, but another pet peeve of mine.

Tkachuk seems to be playing like a guy who feels very hopeless. He’s seen the exact same scenario being played out now for the last 5 years where his team implodes in November/December which has them playing catch up for the rest of the year and then eventually coming up short which is also another psychological obstacle.

He probably feels the brunt of all the shortcomings from all the heightened expectations imposed onto him as the captain and he’s releasing all of that built up pressure out on the ice. He doesn’t seem like the typical “goon” type where he’s just trying to injure guys for f***s, he genuinely does seem like a guy who’s just trying to get his team going and wants to instill a no nonsense identity. But his antics obviously do get the better of him and more often than not he’s just embarassing himself and ends up hurting the team with these bad penalties and that takes himself out the game.
Agreed, he's f***ing frustrated as hell and who can blame him?

I still think he'd look absolutely phenomenal in a Canucks jersey and would be the ideal Petey line-mate. Circus act is fine too sometimes, we've a strong enough dressing room that I think the antics would end up being something more akin to how Miller is.

Bring Brady home Allvin~

(And a couple of top 4D too, easy peasy!)

Whose taking on the contract at his price and prefromance. And if he is picked up opens up some precious cap space needed to acquire the d-man we need.

Hoglander's contract looks like an anchor moving ahead.
Honestly this whole debate is asinine because they just signed the contract. They obviously have a different valuation of the player than most posters on here. They are not waiving Hoglander this is not Jim Benning running this team anymore.

Coaching staff needs to wake the f*** up. Stop putting myers and juulsen out in the last moments. Haven't we learned from the playoffs?

Ok, Myers played ok for the 2nd and then started steadily declining again as the game went on. You put him out in a vital moment at the end, I get it. But then he makes the dumbest possible play with tons of time and no pressure....DON'T PUT HIM OUT THERE AGAIN. And definitely don't put Juulsen out there with him...

Also, Hronek was an absolute stud this game and he's not out there at the end?

This coaching staff just can't help themselves, they put Myers out mindlessly and just ignore when he makes dumb decisions. At least be able to read who is playing well in the game and lean on them...
agree, Myers can’t be out there at the end of the game. Put the third pairing on with Brannstrom instead

He’s had 1 good year in the last 4, and it was basically a SH% bender.

Signed for $1.5 million of course he’d have value. At $3 million with term for a depth guy playing this badly, good luck.
Throughout his "SH% bender" he was scoring on wide-open looks and odd-man attacks on broken plays because he was playing a fantastic short passing game, forechecking, and working like a dog. Teams remember that and I think he still has some value even with the extension.

what would you offer for Tkachuk?

You're spot on. I honestly feel the Sens need a huge core shakeup.

Hoglander's contract looks like an anchor moving ahead.

Plenty of teams will value this player. Just because he's not playing well at the moment doesn't mean that he isn't a net positive player.

He's right there with Garland for best on the team in individual scoring chances at 5v5. He's a talented player with a high motor who is prone to defensive lapses and seems to end up in Tocchet's doghouse regularly but has made big strides in the past year. It's unfortunate that he's not playing well after a strong start to the season where he was earning top six minutes much like the end of last season.

It's funny to reminisce about Travis Green but even funnier is to watch his post game comments tonight and realize he's completely out of answer 20 games into the season:

How this guy got another job as head coach is beyond me.

And it’s not even like he hasn’t worked since the Canucks. He was the coach in Jersey the final 20 games last year and everyone agreed he was terrible and wasn’t brought back for a reason. The team had a 53.2% xGF 5v5 for 61 games under Ruff and it tanked to a 46.9% xGF% 5v5 in 21 games under Green.

Might just be one of the most boring if not THE most boring person in front of a camera.

Watching and listening to him talk is like staring at paint dry.
