I can't figure out what's worse, the horrible stretch between 2002-2009, or this disgusting product we've had to endure for the last 5 years.

Easily this. Palffy was more exciting than anything we've had the last five seasons and you still had heart and balls on the team. People hate him but Sean Avery at least provided entertainment value while this current stretch had pretty much offered zero entertainment value. Back half of that no playoffs stretch included the start of Kopitar/Quick/Doughty and then Brown hitting everything in sight. This is easily the worst stretch ever due to the sheer lack of entertainment value on top of the losing.

Yeah I just... don't care

I have tickets for Sunday's game that I got as a Christmas present, so I'm going to that, but...

Yeah. I'm just too old now. I just don't care anymore.

Don't think I'm going to any of the games on the homestand. Just going to be happy to get $8.50 back per ticket and eat the loss v. wasting precious time and throwing good money towards bad.

The change people see is that the old folks core is gone.
As much as they did for our generation, they do not do anything expected from team leaders.
A 10 million 1st line center should be able to take over a game at will or at latest in crunch time.
A veteran 1st line winger should just yell, give me the puck when i close to the net and i finish.
A 1st line defender and face of the franchise shouldn't be overrun by even rookies and should be able skate a straight line without fumbling

This core is supposed to teach the the youngsters the how and when.
The problem is that this core grew up under coaches who strangled any kind of creativity or offense hockey.
This shows even more now, when this core isn't able to enforce any kind of action because of their physical prime.
They just barely do the basic stuff that is asked of them but that is not cutting it in the NHL.
Include our coaching staff that is an exact clone of our last 2 coaches just without winning mentality and we have 0 progress and this is exactly what we whiteness now on a daily basis.

I totally understand that people throw in the towel and focus on the future.
I was laughed at when i mentioned that the KIngs are still 2-3 years away from playoff because Mr. Blake announced the rebuild is over.
If we talk about real contending for the cup i don't see that earlier then 4 years from now.

This is why people give away the season.
Let's do what's really important for the future, scout and draft the right youngsters and let them develop in the minors
and even more important, keep them away from the, washed up former glory heroes.

Well to be on the pessimistic side of things, those youngsters haven't proven anything yet so it's possible we're in for a long long rebuild and likely GM and head coach firings.

Still to this day, there hasn't been a player on the Kings that was more exciting than Palffy. When I was younger I'd endure the shit just so Palffy would come off IR and be the best king on the ice handedly.

I f***ing love Palffy. It's a travesty we haven't had a player like him yet.

The man the myth the f***ing legend. Probably the most underappreciated King in recent history

First game back from injury and you just knew he was going to light the lamp

Is Tarasenko still available?

he's a piece of expletive deleted

Yeah I made this comment just a couple days before everything ultimately blew up, and I don't want anyone of that ilk anywhere near this org. But it doesn't change my curiosity in what could've been (from a strictly hockey perspective) if he were the hire instead of TMac. I believe both were available at the time.

Yep, totally agree. The most exciting player I've seen taking the puck up the ice since I was young kid watching Bobby Hull in his Blackhawk days.

I watched Palffy during his IHL days with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles and then the Denver Grizzlies. He made opponents look silly and was always dangerous with the puck.

He really developed under former Kings great Butch Goring who tried to get him to play both ways. Wasn’t always successful but I know at one point Butch compared Ziggys game to that of Pavel Bure, and everyone knows Bure played no defense.

So I’m not sure he’s exactly what this team needs to win games but certainly make the games more fun even if the Kings lose 6-4 etc.

Yep, this is reality, doesn't matter what if our GM declares the rebuild being over.
But it's not that bad at all.
Kupari and Kaliev really start to stick out and Vilardi still has his elite moments.
A different system will do miracles for Kempe and Moore and Grundstrom looking at least solid in what they are doing.

Like i said, it's just a matter to ride out our oldies if they are not willing to be traded away

I freakin loved Palffy!!! One of my all time favorite Kings. Man dude was so damn fun to watch. Crossing my fingers we find anyone that will be this good one day.

Todd is proven a loser. I give him 3-5 more games until Luc and Blake have to fire him or face the worse consequence at the end of the season. Bring in the AHL guy and let him be the new voice.

My big problem with Todd is what is his actual directive? Is it playoffs now at the expense of developing for the future? Obviously, he and Blake are talking playoffs and losing an elite #1 defender for 8 weeks and your second best PMD for the season with 75 or so games left, it ain't happening. The ceiling when everyone was healthy was fringe playoff team. Now I'm thinking 85 points or so and maybe a shot at Shane Wright.

This is the deepest most talented pipeline and you cannot waste this with a head coach whose apparent attitude is to throw them out there and have them sink or swim even in sub-optimal circumstances. I'm sorry, that's unacceptable for where this franchise is at. When I read the thought process of "they have to earn it", I don't disagree, but there has to be some flexibility. IMO, the Kings did the right thing in hiring Wroblewski in Ontario because he's a developmental coach, although I'm not sure what the value is of signing TJ Tynan in the offseason but whatever.

Todd is like a damn farmer who is giving all of the prime soil, sunlight and water to his potato and tomato crops. They're reliable and get the job done, but when you've been given truffles and cannabis, you need to give those more advantageous treatment and tailored environment to get them to grow and flourish because if they do, you've hit the jackpot. Imagine being given those and just treating them like f'ing cabbage and celery.

The point is that in my opinion, the most valuable commodity the Kings have right now are its youth. The future of the Kings is heavily dependent on the development of the young players and you need to put them in position to give them the best chance to develop and that means playing them with players who are talented and experienced and putting some of the older vets out to pasture.

I'll come out and say it. And I know it's not a popular opinion... getting rid of Lombardi and Sutter reeks of smartest person in the room. It's not like we hadn't won a Stanley Cup before them, right? Sure Lombardi made some bonehead decisions, and Sutter may or may not have lost the team... I would argue their play since his departure has proven that he wasn't the problem. And his current situation in Calgary it's just more proof. I hope this current management and Coach can be successful, but I can't help but think we gave up on the old regime too early.

I've always said it, never understood the Lombardi firing. Sutter....had to go, he's a short-term coach and milked this team for all he could. DL was canned becuase he wouldn't let Sutter go.

Rob Blake is everything I expected from him as a general manager. Which is to say, he sucks balls. Time to move on Luc. Fire your useless friend. He's had more than enough time to turn the team around, and all the Kings are doing is donuts on the ice.
